500 miles locally to get in run in then a 3,500 mile trip to Czech Republic.
A bit of daily commuting here (5 miles a day) then Timbuktu and back.........
I am busy planning this summer's riding and expect to be up to 25,000 to 30,000 miles by the time the bike is 12 months old

Hi,
I live in the West Mids - got my 650 X in Dec but not yet run in ( I know im a pussy!) -have not seen any other V-stroms on the road , seems we are a bit of a "cult" !!
I also have a 1989 Kawasaki GPZ900r and the owners club for this has lots of ride outs and camping trips etc - seems we are a lazy bunch - just needs someone to take the lead and arrange something I guess? Like Matthew I also fancy a long trip somewhere - either around the UK (Shetland Isles) or the Nurburgring in Germany - you can go around the track on your bike there you know for a few euro's, its only about 250 miles from the Eurotunnel.

Not English, but I live in England :)
I've just joined the wee club (and the motorcycling fraternity, for that matter). Only 200 miles in two weeks, mostly commuting. Certainly looking forward to getting out in the countryside a bit when it gets a bit warmer and dryer.
I'm based in north London.....

I rode up to Birmingham and back over the weekend, and my blase nodding to all other riders was interrupted by a bit of frantic waving to a vee-strommer stuck in traffic southbound on the M1 on Sunday.
I was getting ready for work on Thursday morning last week, and shouted Strommer out the window as a blue vee rolled past. He must have thought I was an idiot. If he'd noticed.

Just about to put down deposit on dl1000TK8 after spending the majority of last year on a dl650TK7 couriering/ despatch riding in central london with long distance trips atleast once a week round the surrounding counties. Am no longer couriering on the new bike so would be great to meet up with other Strom riders in the South.

Hi there.
Sorry for hijacking the thread, but i just wondering about the weather in GB during sept-oct.
Is this period the "monsoon-period", or is it normally dry?
I have been thinking about a last long trip for this season, and since GB is unknown territory for me, it would be very interesting to go there and see how it is. :D
Cheers.

The weather in the UK is normally OK/fairly good in September, but October it normally seems to have a wet spell.
Temerpature wise its OK until November normally, then drops sharply before stabilising in December and early January before dropping again for the main part of the winter.
September is your best travelling time really, although early October should be OK.

hi there
passed my test (oh great DAS we hail to thee) about three weeks ago. Decided on the WeeStrom before i'd passed and then saw a lovely red one not far from where i live, so passed the test on the Thursday and paid the deposit on the Saturday, collected on the Monday, off to work on the Tuesday!!! No hanging around!:)
just got on the bike on the Tuesday and then oh my god dropped it, aagh!!!:sad1:
lucky, only scratched the bar end weight, snapped the ball of the clutch handle and smashed the rear of the front indicator, no damage to fairing or engine, phew:(
anyone else out there living in/round cheshire?

Been lurking on the forums for a few months now and thought it time to make an appearance :)
Purchased my DL1000K6 second hand in July (after my Z750S got written off - inattentive car driver ) and use it for my daily 100 mile return commute to work. Still getting used to it but enjoy arriving at work relaxed and stress free.
Live just outside Manchester (Oldham) so a meet would not be a problem.

I am a all year round rider and the ice, snow and very strong winds are the only things that keep me in. love my bike. I have the DL1000, yellow and blue, 35,000 miles and running great. had a recent service as the last one was missing in the book when i bought it, so got it done anyway to be safe. it is in pretty good condition for age (2002).one or two bits need doing, just pitting on crash bars and the laquer on engine is peeling making it look tatty. have to find a way of sorting it out. I will find some new crash bars or have them sprayed again. I do not know alot about bikes and I am still learning bits. did my scotoiler for the first time the other day and had a good look around. going to give her a wash if weather holds in the next few days. thinking of doing my own servicing in the future. i have bought a service manuel on cd for it and will have a good look around it before deciding what to do.
dave :D
Down here in South Africa, I paid for the first service as well as the consumables.

Hi, I live in Sutton, Surrey.... I ride a KLV1000 ( a Kawasaki Badged DL1000) on an 05 plate, had it a week and wish I'd bought one sooner, may have to buy a new DL1000 as they are not bringing them in any more!! I'm up for any ride outs, hopefully off to Belgium again this year (normally 8-10 of us) for a 'gentle' ride and then maybe the South of France later in the year before the weather dies off in Sept/Oct..... would be great to meet up with other DL/KLV riders... We could meet at the ACE Cafe perhaps....drop us a line ...
