I searched for rear shock threads and couldn't find anything recent. So,

I put progressive springs in the forms and 10wt oil and it improved greatly. Much firmer and less wallow.

Anybody put in a penske or ohlins ? Results ? Cost ?

Thanks
Frank

We have an opportunity for a group buy for Wilbers shocks for the V-strom

What fork springs did you use? I am going to be doing mine soon and have gone back and forth between a progressive and linear rate spring.

I have an '03 1000 and just did my forks. I installed the RaceTech valve kit and Traxxon Dynamics springs. It made a big improvement in the way sharp bumps are handled and the handling in general. I weigh 200lbs and used the .95kg per mm springs. The front doesn't dive near as much under braking and cornering. The bike is much more stable.

I have come to believe that the handling problems with the stock bikes is with the forks not the shock. 8)

I have made the sacrafice for the 650 and sent my stock shock to Penske via traxxion dynamics and they made me a shock. It is a dream and worth the $700.
