From browsing I get that this is one of the first mods on the Strom most people does. I have asked 2 dealers out here is South Africa and they don't seem to think or know that you can install a centrestand. Can somebody please take pics from you centrestand and the fitment and place it here and even mail it to me personally ( niekie@lister.co.za ). I would like to have a look and see where I can get one.
Then while on this topic, I have a few ideas on why I would install a centrestand, but give me a few reasons from your experience on why one needs a centrestand
Cheers

Thanks for the replies. I'll see what I can do. Bob from the pic I asume that you only use your bike onroad gather from the rear tire that you'vge got there. I hope to use mine of the road substantially as wel. Here in SA is so many nice of the beaten track routes.
Anyone wanna come ride out here give me a shout

Chain maintenance. I almost dropped my DL today rolling it forward to lube the stupid chain. I have the SW Motech centerstand ordered and it can not arrive soon enough.

There was a great article in Motorcycle Escape magazine about riding in South Africa. The author had ridden all over the world and found SA to be one of the best trips she had ever taken.

I've done some off-road, just lower the pressure and go for it. The 020s aren't great, but not as bad as you might think.

I used the kouba link on my 1000 for lowering, however, with the centerstan, makes It really high off the ground and hard to pull it up onto. thinking about cutting an inch off. The KLR has two centerstands, one that has been lowered and one for stock.
