View Full Version : Givi E350 Monolock Topcase
I received and installed this yesterday (pics to come) and although it looks great, the locking mechanism is buggy. I can lock it ok but when I unlock it, it doesn't to open and I have to fiddle with it for a few minutes and then it releases. It's more an annoyance than anything else. I'm kinda disappointed because Givi has such a good reputation. :( The instructions are mediocre as well.
For some reason the next day the locking mechanism worked just fine...I guess I was tired.:D Anyway, here are the pics.

why did you go with the Monolock, not the monokey? The monolocks are flimsier and made for scooters.
I liked the size, color & shape plus the fact that it had a universal mounting plate if I ever decide to move it to a new bike. It serves the purpose for me - I only use it for hauling stuff to and from work and maybe some small shopping excursions - nothing heavy duty. I don't think it's flimsy at all. It's very sturdy and makes a great backrest for my wife.

Sweet.http://www.xtremepccentral.com/forums/images/smilies/beer2.gif Did you ditch your chrome orange bulbs? The local shop only had 2 or the regular orange bulbs in stock so I'm running half and half at the moment. If anyone is interested in 4 chrome orange 1156 bulbs let me know.

That looks aces JRE. Have a few
questions for you.
Can you get a full face helmet in it ?
So you don't feel you need that extra
back option for it to be a decent back
rest ?
Any problem with the fit-up to the
stock rack ?
Where did you pick that up ?
How much ?
Am thinking about the same for
my black.
thanks, vs

Yes, but not 2.

Nope, thankfully, someone pointed out that the backrest makes it stick out too far and not to buy one until I tried it out. Don't need it.

No, not really, I didn't even try to follow the useless instructions though. It's a little cramped trying to hold the nut underneath but not too bad if you have the right tools. Because of the universal mounting rack, you can't take your rack off and install it off the bike, otherwise you can't bolt the rack back on. There are a few different ways you could do it but I wanted to position mine a little farther away from the seat.

How much ?$165 (with the gloss black paint - matches perfectly BTW).

Thank J.
One more question. Have you taken your bike
up to speed with the top case on ?
I used to ride a Trophy 4. Biggest regret was
the topcase, (mainly because I paid $500 for it).
But also because if I went over 70mph the rear
end would start getting squirrely. But it was
bigger than your Givi. Have you ridden
with just you and the topcase (not with wife) up to
80 mph ?
thanks again, vs
Yeah, I ran it up to 95mph solo and I can't even tell it was there. I haven't noticed a difference overall.
