Cool! I did that ride a couple of weeks ago. My parents live in Ridgecrest, CA. So I took the round trip of LV to Beatty, past Stovepipe Wells to Hwy 178 in the Panamint Valley, south through Trona to Ridgecrest. On the way back, I took the Wildrose Pass route, (horrible road ,perfect for the V), down through Furnace Creek, Death Valley Junction, Lathrop Wells, to LV.

Anyway, I love Death Valley. It would be excellent to ride it north to Scotty's Castle and up Grape Vine Canyon, then back down to Beatty. Depending where you leave LV from, it might be nice go through Red Rock Canyon, then take 160 to Pahrump, maybe stop for breakfast. I've only thought about this a little bit, I swear.

Group rides of more than 4 people need to be organized. You need a plan - a route, rules of the road, a leader and a tail gunner. If nothing else, it would be great to get the Vegas V-Strom enthusiasts together.

Mike,

I am trying to remain optimistic that I will have the bike back by the time this ride happens. I attempted to shift into first the other night when stopping at a light and all I found was neutral after that. I could not get that bike into any other gear. Tried the half clutch and anything else I could think of. So the bike is waiting to get looked at and hopefully, if parts are needed, I will have it back by the end of next week.

Mike,

Is this ride still happening this weekend? Got the bike back today. Blah blah blah shift cam, shift drum, broken bolt. Everything was fine until the bike had an overheat indication 3 miles from the dealer. Long story short, they sent a trailer right away and stayed open late to burp the radiator.:D Should be good to go now for Sunday if the ride is still going to happen. Let me know.

The ride was great, 16 bikes total, but only 2 V-Stroms.
I will post when we are doing another ride.
Iam doing a little ride down to Nipton on Friday the 16th after work for lottery tickets.
Not sure what your work schedules are like.
A buddy and I run down once a month if the weather is good and pick up tickets for people at work.
Then we stop at Buffalo Bills Buffet on the way home for dinner.
Anyone is welcome to go.
