Have for years, came close to buying an Airstream Bambi. My parents told me "you live in the woods, why in the hell do you want to buy a camper to go back in the woods". Good point but my reply was "because they are cool!"
I have been watching an RV show on HGTV while working on the site this evening. Makes me want one even more. Now if only $500,000 dropped into my lap, I would have a sweet diesel pusher.
Anyone else yearing for a super cool RV? Or have one that they want to let us know about?

I'd like to get a new Sportsmobile or Earthroamer to replace my 20 year old 4x4 Chevy van.

I got a buddy that had a Sportsmobile....Loved it until they (he and his wife and 2 dogs) rolled it in Texas. He may end up getting another one.
I've been to the Austin (Texas) and Fresno factory...Quite an impressive vehicle.
I think my personnel choice if I wanted to live "off the grid" would be this . . . .

The van is super sweet! Don't trade it.
Here is my current set up:

I had a vehicle similar the Man not too long ago. It was a Steyr Daimler Puch Pinzgauer 710M. Jennifer and I camped in it a few times. I really miss that truck.
Let's see some more rigs!
Pinzi's were great in their day, used by the Swiss army as troop transport and ambulances. I was just at a rock crawling competition out in the California desert and a few came down from Big Bear to have a look.
The swiss have replaced the Pinzi with a modern version made by
Buscher. The Duro is a bigger version of the Pinzi, still using DeDeon independent suspension with inboard disc brakes. Unicat, the German expedition vehicle company has one made into a camper that is very well done. They make it so it will fit inside a standard shipping container to make freighting around the world cheaper.

I like the compactness of the rig, get to where you want to be and pop the top. Doesn't look like it would be to expensive to operate, compared to the massive Unimog, MAN based rigs.
