I have an 04 dl1000. It has the adjustable windshield. I have found that there are a large variety of windshields available for the 02-03 models. Some of which I really like. I don't for see needing to adjust it if I find one I like and that fits well. Has anyone switched out parts to make earlier vstrom shields work on later model v-stroms?

you CAN convert the '02/'03's to receive new style windscreens, so i'm sure you can retrofit the the older style windscreen to a new bike.
i think you'll find it's quite a few parts, including a new brace, new gauges, windscreen, etc and quite a bit of work.
also, there are far more options for new windscreens then there are for the older models (i have an '03). i can't for the life of me understand why you'd change over. the new style Givi screen was absolutley the best screen i've ever come across. i have a stock screen, a screen cut down to nothing, and the largest screen cee-baileys makes (28 1/2 inches or something) and i just ordered their stock screen (22 inches if i remember) with a flip and an NACA air vent. turbulence and paint-shaker head-aches are very common with the old bikes, one of the primary reasons they went to the new style.
