It's not a Strom .. but I thought that some of you would be interested in seeing this .. some of you probably already have. I am signed up for a test ride next month. Is this a sign of things to come?

I think it's a great concept. I guess it really corners. Hate the price tag for a snowmobile motored rig. But the local dealer has presold several at $17,000 or whatever it is. Actually I'm thinkng about the Piaggio MP3 for knocking around town.

I always wondered what you'd get if you allowed your snowmobile to mate with your ATV!

The MSRP on this scooter is also $300 more than a 2008 Wee!

I saw a yellow one of these on the interstate a couple months ago. I'm pretty sure it was this. It was going the other direction but looked pretty similar from what I could tell. I dont think there are too many other competors out there.

I am pretty sure I saw one of these on my way back from the Laughlin River Run in April. It was in the opposing lane and all I could think was how unusually awesome that thing looked. I would love to take one out for a spin.

Saw a MP3 up close and personal at Starbucks a while ago. Interesting and sort of neat but for the price I could get a Burgman or SilverWing if a scooter was in the cards.

HOLY Crap! .. I had NO idea the front wheels tucked under like that! Wow .. no wonder the local dealer has pre-sold 7 of them for May!

Maybe when I am 60 .. 20 years to go!

Oops, my mind read 3000 Bucks. Guess I couldn't get a Burgman or SilverWing for that little.

No, you were right the 1st time. MP3 lists for $7000 UDS/CDN (still can't believe that)' Look at the tab on the video window and you'll see why these three wheels look like serious fun. Check out the panic stop !

Spyder has a different suspension system. The front wheels don't corner the same.

I saw an mp3 at the DC motorcycle show last year, it has no kickstand and I watched a kid fall over on it and break some plastic. Looks fun anyway. The Can-Am Spyder is just like it except it purportedly has a Rotax 100cc vtwin and of course it doesnt lean at all.

I've ridden a Spider. It was a blast once you get used to turning. The motor felt real strong too, lots of cargo space................Just a little pricy for me..........

Just saw someone riding one yesterday. Knew I'd seen it somewhere before, but couldn't recall what it was. Good timing for this thread!

I saw a few of the MP3s last summer in Italy and France. The way the front wheels work is very slick, and they look great for zipping around in a crowded city.

Since the roads where I live are crap (potholes, cracks, etc.) can't say that I'd be eager to ride something with smaller-diameter wheels. Seems like the answer to a question that no one is asking. But I guess that's what free markets are for.

Actually both the MP3 and the Spyder are great for folks who are short of stature. You don't need to put your feet down at stops (the MP3 takes a little juggling from what I gather to lock the wheels as you come to a stop) and I see this as a big plus for shorter folks. In addition when the weather isn't so great you have a lot more friction surface on the road.

Lastly, everone knows that a motorcycle's natural rest position is on its side. Don't believe me, retract the kickstand, walk away and see what happens. The 3-wheeled vehicles are much more stable for when the road surface isn't swept clean and the MP3 even leans.

yeah, this is true for motorcycles that are standing still. I can promise you that my bike is no fun when it is standing still. It is moving about 99% of the time that I am on it so I'm not too concerned about its tendencies during that 1% of the time. I doubt I could care less about the way a bike reacts when it is standing still. It is when it is moving that I'm interested. :D

I wonder if they'd stay upright with the 40-50MPH sidewinds we seem to be getting here lately? Sure, I can see the advantate for the vertically challenged, though I lack that perspective personnally. And maybe I'm too sensitive about lousy roads, but we're in the middle of pothole season here, and some of them would swallow one of those front wheels up to the axle. I'd be curious to hear from someone who's ridden one hwo they handle. Do you countersteer (like on a bike) to initiate a turn, or do you just steer it like a car? Is the lean part of the steering mechanism, or is it controlled by the front wheel, like on a bike?

FWIW most scooters are at a disadvantage on bad roads, I am sure the MP3 is no different.
Its not just the wheel size, the Engine/CVT/Rear wheel unit really make for a choppy & harsh ride.
I think the Burgmans have a separate engine and ride a bit better.

I got the chance to Demo the Spyder, it's ride quality is actually quite good.
