I seem to recall a couple of threads about feet slipping off slippery OEM centre stand pegs. Well, I'm here to tell y'all it's true. Second-last day of my vacation I did exactly that in heavy rain, and completely ruptured my Achilles tendon when I hyper-extended my foot. Surgery, staples, cast for 6 weeks, rehab for 6 more. So, moral of the story is, add some grit or something to lessen the chances of slipping; it ain't fun when it happens.

OUCH!!! You drop the bike, or did you manage to keep it up despite the tendon rupture? I can't imagine what that feels like....

Nope didn't drop it, in fact I rode to the hosiptal, about 10km. Ambulances are for sissies  Odd thing is, it didn't hurt. Just that my right foot stopped working. I walked (hobbled) into emerg, did a couple of walks down the hall to the hospital Timmies before they saw me. Even after the surgery I was only sore from the incision for a few hours. The liquid "meds" help  The pain comes from the fact that I was on my way home from vacation back to S.Ont., had to leave the Wee in the Sault with my brother-in-law and nephew, who are hooligans. I might just have to get a new one next spring :p

Ouch, well at least it's near the end of the riding season. Happy healing. Not sure that all will pick up on what a Timmies is:) Any more details on when, where, how and how to avoid it in the future?

Timmies or the injury?
I've read somewhere that people have re-painted the peg and added sand to the wet paint to provide some traction. I think I'll try that. I've also made a resolution to be more careful (duh!), to watch how I place my foot, and to remove the left side-case before lifting it, to give myself some more room. It's easy to lift onto the stand; I was just a bit careless under less than optimum conditions near the end of a long cold wet day. And I paid for it.
And if anyone's in my neighbourhood, I'll have a large double-double :)
