View Full Version : Brand loyalty
After reading a few threads regarding different bike manufacturers, I wanted to give my two cents on "brand loyalty". You are brand loyal if you only consider one brand of item, regardless of price/quality. Companies’ marketing strategies strive for this, because it is the best scenario for them. Brand loyalty does not help the consumer at all, in any way.
In this wonderful world economy, the options are endless for the open minded consumer. The open minded consumer is also very dangerous to a manufacturer that bases some 70% of their marketability on name recognition, because value, quality, and consumer relations rule the day for us, not image. In my opinion, if you are brand loyal to any one brand, you are depriving yourself of happiness because you are willing to accept an inferior product because of the name.
I am the son of a Ford worker, and for a long time only bought Fords. I now own a Nissan because the quality and value seemed better to me. I also chose the dl1000, after selling my BMW. I couldn’t be happier with either choice.
Life is always better when you have options. Open you mind and enjoy! Doug.

I too drive a Nissan (I had a ford focus what a boring, boring car) and I enjoy my DL650, but sometimes i feel that brand loyalty is actually brand snobbery, BMW is an excellent manufacturer but how many people buy them for that reason.
Many people have an image and status approach to life and Suzuki for them would not represent the badge snobbery that they desire, Shame on them, but still different strokes for different folks.

BUGGER
Yep, I think it is. To the educated consumer, it’s a "smart buy".
I look back to how I felt about my K75C when I got it. Man, I was stoked. I always wanted the Beemer, and there it was in my Garage. Double that feeling for the dl. I am so insane about it that people are sick of me talking about it (that's probably why I'm logged on here!). How may things that you buy can give you that feeling? Yesterday I went out to the garage in my socks just to take a look at it. This was the bike I wanted, like it was custom built for me.
I'll shut up now and go back to work.

Brand Loyalty ? Bah Humbug....
It's like the Civil War Slave defending the Plantation Owner interests..
Kinda sounds like Hardley Dangerous don't it... They be proud of only paying $1900 for an extended warranty on a product they are afraid of owning without a warranty? sounds nutz to me.
As for BMW cars- No one wants to own one after 50,000 mi (When the warranty runs out) Why there are so many beemers for sale with around 45,000 miles on it... The paper is full of 325/330/530/540 models
I spend $ on good products, not Lifestyle vehicles.
Well put!
I would love to have one of every bike out there. Hell, I'll even take some mopeds and scooters. But if I had to choose one bike to by for this year (and I did, just barely$$$), I choose the DL. It's a huge bang for the buck, and I don't worry about parts falling off on the highway.
BTY, just a quick story. My buddy in Norwalk got a brand-new Harley from his wife as a gift (yea, that is a cool wife!). He was nicken so much to ride it, that he takes it to work on some 20 degree day. I’ll quote our conversation here:
“I felt this burning feeling around my crotch and inside of my thighs, but I thought it was just frost-bight”. Got any idea what happened?
Yep, his fuel pump assembly (fuel injection) disconnected while he was ridding, DUMPING GAS ALL OVER HIS LEGS, THE SEAT, AND THE ENGINE!
“Man, dude, you could have lit-up like the 4th of July”. “Yah, I was really pissed, and told them to pick-up there pos ASAP”.
They replaced everything, including his gas tank. I just can’t believe that he still rides a Harley after his experience. Now that’s hard core brand loyalty! I just can’t believe it. If my crotch almost burst into flames, I think I would reevaluate.
I swear this is a true story!
Doug.
