View Full Version : Source for LED tailight?

A while ago I bought an LED tailight for my KLR (from Dual Star). It was expensive ($80-100 I think) but worth every penny! It's the kind that strobes for a couple seconds when you apply brakes.
Having it gives me a HUGE amount of additional "security feeling" because you can see that strobing brake light a mile away, and there is NO doubt that anyone behind WILL know you've hit the brakes!
Is there an equivalent to this for the V-Strom? If so, I'd appreciate pointers to where I can buy one!
Thanks,
Scott
PS - I'd love to have the same thing for my turn signals—I try to use hand signals (when I remember), but I don't think the stock turn signals on the DL650 are adequately bright and/or noticeable (my KLR's big round signals are far more visible).

A quick followup note—it's the flashing strobe feature that I really want in an LED light. I know there are many sources for just plain LED replacement bulbs, but it's not clear on many sites whether these offer the strobe function?
The strobe is what gets peoples' attention! :)

It has a flashing feature when you brake and the light moves back and fourth while riding, (Knight Rider Style). Best of all, its cheap! $30.
It makes a very visible rear end. I have mine mounted on a piece of aluminum angle stuck under the luggage rack with double stick tape as an addition to the brake light. I think I will put one on my trailer too, very flashy.

Custom Dynamics Radiantz Pigtails fit into our turn signals. It's what I have on my bike. All you need is some double sided 3m foam tape to make them stay put. They are extremely bright.

I will put one on my trailer too, very flashy. I would like something like that on the back of my helmet. People nowadays expect to see the brake light up high like the ones on the rear window on cars.

Anthony,
Do you have an item number for the lights you are using?

Looks like they may be called the RAD185CLUSTER on the Custom Dynamics site. I found the 3202-28 items on the lumimoto.com and bikerhiwy.com websites.
I'll get them added to my farkles list. The minimal turn signal visibility was one of my riding buddy's main complaints about following me on our trip this summer.
Thank you Anthony!

I forgot to add that I also have a Kisan SignalMinder, which works regardless of load (And allows you to use your blinkers as running lights). If you run all 4 of your blinkers as LEDs, the resistor might not flash them. If they do, let us know!
Also, I bet Custom Dynamics can get this: http://www.radiantz.com/1303.html
