Hey gang,
Just saw a 2" piece in the latest AMA rag that says the Versys is going to be available in the US for 08. Has anyone seen one on the floor? That looks like a great commuter bike. I might like one of those for putting around town.

I saw one today at a Kawasaki dealer in N Wilksboro NC. Interesting looking bike. Sounded like a good price too.

Yeah, I'd like to see one. Looks like it'd be a neat little corner carver.

Looks like a cool bike. You're right about it looking like a good commuter bike. But no luggage rack; that's a deal-breaker for me:

Hmm, not sure if it's 'manly' enough for you Shep, you know with your displacement issues and all....:D

Welcome to 6 weeks ago.
(I'm only teasing) I've seen them on the road here since early July.

Well he did say for "putting around town", not blasting down the highway!
I have been talking with a few folks that have purchased the Versys. They like it a lot. There is a pretty big discussion going on over at KLR World right now. You have to sign up for the forum, but the cost is very reasonable - $000.00. Look for the Versys forum.
Yep, I too am looking at acquiring one as a commuter bike. Givi has already released luggage for the bike.

I was thinking it would be good for around town. Take some of the load off the big Vee. I doubt I'd do any touring on it.

That's just one more reason that I hate LA! You'd think we'd get the stuff right off the boat, but nooooo............you guy's in the boonies are riding 'em already and I'm stuck here looking at 'em in a magazine. This place SUCKS!

Hey, Shep, you could always pick up a nice Wee for commuting! ;)

The thought crossed my mind. It's those two for a second commuter bike for sure. I like the look of that Versys, and its 17" front wheel. Good choices in tires.
If I did buy a Wee, I'd never let you guy's know it!

Now, THAT's funny! I thought about waiting for the Versys, but in all honesty, its looks do nothing for me, and the Wee is better suited for the all-around riding I'm planning. Guess I'm the odd man out, but I just can't get past the funky headlight and the fake side covers, although the blacked-out one doesn't look TOO horrific.

Ironic, isn't it ?
All that macho talk from a man who chooses Sesame Street characters to use in his Avatar. :p
Animal was from the Muppets on Monday night, not Sesame Street. Either your to young, or to old to recognize the drummer from the band.

Now that you mention it, I do remember.
In an effort to make amends, I am posting a link to the off-topic forum showing one of Animal's glory moments from the show.

I was reading a review last night (Canadian) and it seems like a really great bike! The bike reads a LOT like the Wee, but shorter wheel base for better turning. I think it would be better for around the town and carving canyon's then the Wee! The Vstrom still has it beat in farkle though! ;) Honestly, if that bike was in the US in 06 when I was looking, I think I would of picked that over the DL650. I dont plan on going off road again, and I also dont plan on any passangers. The lack of a stock tail rack is a bummer, since slapping on a Givi will cost an extra 150-200$ vs my 40$ 42L trunk I got for the Wee, and thats just the mount!
If you ever get one Shep, I would love to try it out! I promis not too drop THIS one. ;)
Looks like the Wee has some compatition in the states! And its a looker.

There is now a review of the Versys on Motorcycle.com.
Looks like they think very handily of it.
They do point out one problem that will affect MightShep, it will not be available in California!

What was going through the design team's mind when they designed that headlight combo? "Let's see, how can we make this even uglier than the BMW Rokster?"

Sat on one at a dealer the other day. Felt much smaller than a Wee. The dealer said its more of a runabout than a Wee. Engine, suspensions, ergos,on the Wee make it more of a big bike, better suiter for long rides and carrying luggage. You guys will see the moment you sit on it. As for the engine, its the same as the 650 ninja twin that went the same route as the SV went for the Wee.

Amen, that is one ugly bike.

Hit that one on the head... my thoughts exactly
I saw it and
I have grown to really like the Strom's looks, but I just can't get into the Versys.
