How to install a Scotts steering damper?

Can anyone give me a brief rundown of what's involved with installing a Scotts steering damper on a DL650? I've seen a few photos of them mounted but I can't tell where it attaches. Is there any modifications necessary, or does it bolt straight on?

The fuel tank has to come off. The anchor mounts to the frame under the front tank mount. It can be a bolt on situation or the frame boss may need a little filing if the casting halves are a little out of line. The instructions that come with the thing are excellent. The main unit is a simple replacement of the handlebar top clamp. If the top clamp has been replaced with bar risers, they will have to go.
