Hi Guys,

The Sydney City Council are in the process of preparing a motorcycle and scooter action plan for the city. They have prepared a survey and are asking for submissions. This is a chance for us to have our say and hopefully they will take some of our ideas on board. I would like to see more free motorcycle parking.

If you want to have a say, you can get more details and download the survey (in PDF format) from their web site:

Cheers,
Mat.

Excellent idea Mat!

For starters how about we all mention the stupidity of:

- Having to pay the same price as car drivers on toll roads/or even having to pay tolls at all. (Where are you supposed to put an e-tag that's easily accessible),
- How about us being able to share more of the bus lanes which are 'Bus only' lanes.
- More secure, free motorcycle parking would be great too. Why aren't there more 'm'cycle only' spaces in public car parks?

The more of us who mention the same things, the greater chance we'll have of being listened to.

These comments are for reference only. I'm not making a state vs state argument.

In Victoria motorcycles are free on toll roads.

Can't help with that one.

There are quite a number of on street parks for bikes in Melbourne, usually the narrow bits around trees where we have centre road parking. It's also legal to park bikes on the footpath in Melbourne as long as you park on the road side of the footpath and don't block pedestrian traffic. Motorcycle parking at Melbourne airport is free as far as I know (It was last time I looked).

There's a lot of free motorcycle parking in Brisbane and a lot of it is always full - for the week I commuted there anyway.

I will have to put some thought into this. I live in the city and almost never commute - it's only 2.4km - generally walk or bicycle...
