Spent some time today making some patterns and a mockup of what I wanted for a skidplate. It will be 3 pieces, welded[3mm?] plate with tabs welded on to the rear, to bolt to the centrestand mount and a spacer welded to the front to bolt to Givi crashbars. Could be made just as a skid to suit other bike setups. It is as narrow as I thought practical and provides complete head on protection for the filter but does not enclose the oil cooler. I will make 2 small bolt on rock guards for that. Obviously the ribs on the bottom are formers only! If anyone is keen, PM me, or if you want the patterns, I can send them to you in an envelope. Of course, then you would owe me a beer!:D

If the finish product looks good and can be made to fit sw motec crash bars, and the price was not a small fortune i would be in... I love to support the little guy.

A tip however after looking at all the others. If you recess the bolts by adding metal rib near the bracket it looks to be a good design.

Noticed that this was a down-under project...

Right, I have 2 under construction at the moment, They need to mount to a Givi engine bar at the front but use the mounts for the centre stand at rear. If you don't have a centre stand then you need to pack out with washers or a spacer to suit. Easy!
Should be ready next week. I'll post up when done.

So here is the finished product, this is the one I'm selling mounted on the bike to check it's fit. PM me if you are keen.

Oh - looks nice! I'll owe you a beer for the CAD version of your templates. Bike run any warmer with the radiator protected?

G'day Martin,

Just a quick note re "downunder protocol" ;)

Aussies and Kiwis, whilst in close geograhical proximity, as a general rule, grudgingly respect each other and take immense delight in their respective sporting teams dishing out drubbings to the other. I think its probably a U.S./Canada type thing or perhaps an England/Scotland thing. Intense rivalry!

Suffice to say that any self respecting Kiwi would be aghast at being called an Aussie and any Aussie would be aghast.......well, you can see where this is going. We are both, however, somewhat quiet on the Rugby front at present and are mutually commiserating after having been bundled out of the World Cup. Those Springboks did it again.....well played fellas!

P.S. Laava, that looks like lovely work.

Cheers,

Rob

There is no doubt the result on the world cup was orchastrated by an act of sabotage in our front row the culprit Dunning is to be returned in shackles to his place of birth, Canada

After testing exhaustively, I can confirm that it does not run any hotter at all. I have added a stone guard to the radiator and now it does go to 3 bars a little sooner at the lights but fine otherwise.
Oh, and Martin if you ever go to Oz and at customs they ask,"have you got any convictions?" Don't say, "I didn't think I still needed any" as the joke is wearing a bit thin! [snigger]
