A familiar meeting place and the usual suspects.

But wait. New faces and new bikes.

So off to Geelong we went only to find that all the rough tough Geelong riders were safely tucked up in bed because it was a bit cold and wet. But we did manage to collect Arnie on the venerable FJR1200.

It was then through the rain towards the Great Ocean Road.

If this house is good enough for Sir Terrance Conran to include in a book on architectural design then adding a Strom to the picture can only improve it further.

A quick stop at Big Hill (the say they were waiting for me)

So what does a man with every farkle in the catalogue drink from?

I would say that this place is biker friendly.

But only the bikers were sitting outside for some reason.

When Mr Farkle gets going he reminds us of Hammy on caffiene in "Over the Hedge". Things become a blur.

V-Strom is spelt "V-S-T-R-O-M". Who brought this thing?

Sunny Lorne.

From Lorne it was a quick 200km or so dash back through so lovely roads that alternated wet, dry, bloody wet and somewhat dry home with a stop at Lara to thank stand in tour guide Arnie and where all the 650's watched all the 1000's refuel then a stop for a coffee refill and goodbyes at the BP Roadhouse on the Geelong Road.

Thanks for organising this ride Doug you did a great job, so good in fact that we now expect you to organise another ride soon. :D

What's with your roads always being wet in Victoria? Have you trained your clouds to only get the roads - the rest of your state is in a drought isn't it?

Where is Dr Farkle's Strom tatoo??

Perhaps I don't want to know . .:):):)

Thanks for the pics

Dean.

Great pics.I am seriously making plans to get down there as soon I as learn how to 'counter steer',something I tried for the first time on the Putty Road today(NSW),with some sort of success.Yep....im a real beginner on a real motorbike.

Is it true the Great Ocean Road has a 60km/h limit for its entire length.A fellow riding pal from Melbourne, who I rode with in Japan, told me this.

No it's mostly open road or 80 kph but there are lots of corners with speeds posted at anything between 30 and 50.
The reality (IMO at least) is that's it's a shitty road to ride on these days. The views are nice in good weather and there are lots of corners for bikers but there is just too much traffic. Even yesterday on a wet day in the middle of winter I could have driven to Lorne as fast in my diesel land Rover as I did on the bike because you are in the traffic all the way and even on a bike there are very few safe places to pass.
