So I'm thinking I'll install a fuse box on the Wee and see that several people have different types. I am looking at a unit from Blue Seas, their ST Blade Fuse Block with Cover, 6 circuit, with Negative Bus. I thought the cover would be useful protection, but they also offer the same minus the cover.

The link to the product listing is http://bluesea.com/category/5/21/products/5025.

How does this stack up with what you guys and gals are using?
Anything in particular I should be looking for?

I'm a newbie to adventure touring/riding and don't know what accessories I'll be adding in the future - except maybe a GPS and satellite radio.

Thanks!:D

The Blue Seas is probably the most commonly used. I know that's what I have on mine and I've seen a ton of posts here where others are using them.

I use the Blue Seas and found it very easy to install and dead simple to add accessories to.
I think next time though I might go with the smaller fuse block I saw somewhere on this forum that mounted under the rear gas tank bracket.
The only problem I have with the Blue Seas unit is that it takes up space I would rather use to put the battery charger for my camera.

(update) I found the link to the other install here (http://www.stromtrooper.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12026&highlight=fuse+block)

Thanks everyone for the advice and input. I purchased the Blue Seas box today and had it installed in about 10 minutes. Piece of cake.

Maybe a "pretty setup" and a "pretty ugly setup". :-D

I have since re-done mine to look like Wsiikorski's. To others who are going to be doing this job heres a few hints:
1). Add all your accessories at once (heated grips, powerlets, 12v outlets, GPS, Radar, Extra Lights, voltmeter, battery tender, horn).
2). Solder and tape everything (even crimp ons).
3). Buy some wire and use all the same stuff (mixing wires is messy)
4). Get some black wire conduit ($3 for 10ft) and run all bundles together.
5). Use a generic relay from the autoparts store (don't pay $30 for a "specific" one).
6). Get some rubber O-rings to place in your drilled holes.

I also looked in Wsikorski's profile and noted he was an electrician. Thats explains the super clean setup. Good job!

I tried to make it as easy to add things as possible, just haven't anything else I wanted yet. :)

This may be a dumb question, but I don't see any way to order products on the Blue Sea website -- do I need to find a local dealer to order?

Six or twelve position ATO/ATC fuse blocks. The six fits nicely.

wsikorski,

Just a quick question; why did you go with two relays?

wsikorski,

One relay is for the Blue Sea, the other is for the Stebel Nautilus air horn.

Ah, Danke. Makes perfect sense. Very nice wiring job, BTW.

Here are some pics of my Blue Seas install.

I decided to put the box back behind the toolkit. It wedges in there tightly and you can velcro it down if you wish. The back connectors must be bent upwards at 90 degrees but this doesn't cause any connection issues (unless you break something ;-)

I placed a switch for the entire device up by the battery. It is the one nearest the negative terminal (left in the pictures.)

I ran some split conduit up side of the bike. (left in the pictures). This allows me to pull the entire fuse box out and work on it in the open should I need to. The conduit can slip over the top of the plastic box under the seat to allow for this.

I tapped into the tail light for the relay trigger and ran the cable down the conduit as well.

All in all I am pretty pleased with the install. My first choice was to mount it with it's back against the rear wall of the underseat box right against the back wall. This proved a little difficult to manuever the fuse box around. So, I went with the location in the pictures.

Now, I am almost ready to start hooking up horns, sirius radio, gps, radar etc. I have some 6 conductor (3 pair) 16G wire that I am going to run up to the front for accessory plug-ins. Probably powerlet.

I did not have to remove anything other than the seat to perform this install. There was no drilling involved.

Nice install. Where did you get the rubber "thingy" to hold the relay to that plastic piece?

I don't see a fuse between the battery and the fuse block. Everything looks well protected from chaffing though.

1) Stole it from it's neighbor. The one that has a clip on it. I just clipped it to the plastic holder.

2) I was pondering the fuse. Should I place it between the battery and the relay or between the relay and the fuse box? I was thinking about putting it between the battery and the relay. Then, it might save that too should it blow.

Still using the factory one. Never heard of Zasky and Royceman.

You want the fuse as close to the power source as possible. I'd put one between the battery and relay. You have plenty of room there. It would be super easy to add as all your connections can easily be disconnected.

Thanks Roger. I added the fuse and put an updated picture above.
The fuse is back behind on the yellow wire.

I looked at BlueSea's instead, bought some Hella components from susquehana motorsports, takes up about half the space of a blue sea fuseblock
