I would be interested. The 16T front sprocket is looking very good ATM, and I really dont have any tools or space to do it myself. I typically have Shep do it at his place. Ever since I dropped his 1K, he no longer invites me over =( Heheheh. I also need to get my oil changed, and was thinking about lowering my front fork 1/2".
Jblk9695

We can do it at my place as long as nobody minds our messy house, and I have shade on the half the length of the driveway (40 ft of it). Also have a Powerstands lift for the rear, works with spools or just the swing arm. Have most of the tools that would be needed, bring some of the more specialized ones if you have them. Have a oil drain bucket and the Suzuki oil filter wrench or a universal wrench depending on the filter you have.
Figure out a date as long as its not Aug 12 as we have something planned.

We have two red wee-strom's from San Bernardino. I did my forks so I can help with that. the 12th is out. That leaves the 19th and 26th.

What did you think of the front fork lowering? You like the new steering response?

looks like the dates can be
18 or 19
25 or 26
I'd say a Saturday would be best in case we have a tough time and a 2nd day is needed.

Im also good with any of those dates. I just hit 7K on my wee, and I think I need a service or something. Good timing! I need to look it up in the manual.
Looks like I need to replace spark plugs on this service? Do you guys go with Suzi sparks, or is there something after-market I can get thats better? Also, were is a good place to buy the 16T sprocket.
On my too-do list.
Oil/Filter
Spark Plugs
Check air box
Lower front forks

How does Saturday 9.18.07 sound? We might need to do a tool check. I'll take a look at the service manuel tonight to see what is needed for chain, sprocket, front/rear axle etc...

I've heard good things about NGK Iridium CR8EIX spark plugs, I just ordered a set from daveknowsdeals on ebay. He has more goodies so check him out.
As far as tools go I have all the metric sockets and allens in the work shop but no chain tools and not sure about the front axle, back axle removal is no problem. I heard there is a special size for the front axle, I'll check out mine tonight and see what it will take.
That date is good for me too.

I have a manometer, the official kind, that I have used to do a throttle body synch. The results were surprising. Any interest there? I also have several sets of hex sockets, including the 12 mm. I have a Pit Bull front stand and the Shermworks rear stand. I have a conflict on the 18th. Maybe I can rearrange or shoot for the next time. I would have to drive my cage because I can't lug all this stuff on my strom.

We need to get you a trailer:mrgreen: but then again the cage has air conditioning and there is something to be said for comfort:cool:
Next time would be great:D Maybe we can find a more central location between San Berdo and San Diego, someone with a BIG work shop with AC:mrgreen:

Anyone here interested in showing me how to do a front brake line replacement? IT's really the last ergonomics farkle that I need.
BTW, the 16 tooth countersprocket is a MUST for us SoCal folk. It makes the engine quite a bit more usable. Also, raising your fork tubes 15mm helps low speed and high speed handling tremendously.

were is a good place to buy the 16T sprocket.
I would advise using suzuki OEM part # 27510-20A10
It's for the GXSR, The cheapest place I've found locally is www.noporkcatalog.com , nice folks in Norco, cheaper than chaparrall for most parts.

Thanks for the tips Anthony. Didnt we meet at the Big Bear Ride? Hows that 07ABS treating ya? I was also looking at a front or rear brake line replacement. They have some blue cables that would look really great on my bike for 50$! I heard you get some better brake feedback with better brake lines? Plus it looks better then the standard black.

Getting together and tooling on our bikes is a great idea. Plenty of hands, shared experience, and a pool of tools can't be beat. On the flip side I cannot make the date in August, but if anyone cares for a repeat in the future, I'm in.
Good luck guys, and let us know how the day goes.

Don't think the brake lines will be too bad, just need some Suzuki approved brake fluid, I've got tubing for bleeding and metric tools so should be no problem:D
And by the way everyone, what time are we meeting, any time after 7:00 am is good for me. If we're meeting at my house the address is:
915 W. Marshall blvd.
San Berdo

I'm just north of the cross town freeway and 3 houses west of I st. on the south side of Marshall.

I was at Chaparral yesterday and picked up 4 NGK CR8EIX's. The guy at the counter tells me I need 4 (I didn't know if I needed 2 or 4) then he says that they're $7. So I said, cool.. I'll take them.
You should have seen the look on my face a few minutes later when I found out they were $7 each. LOL
Anyways, I got some plugs now and I'm looking forward to Saturday.

I figure now that if I only need 2 we'll be close enough on Saturday that I can take the other two back. And if they don't take them back, I'll have two ready and waiting on the shelf for next time.

I found an excellent article on suspension tuning in the September issue of All Metric Road Bike. It's a bit technical, but it appeals to me as a physicist. I'll bring a copy along. Does anyone know what size of PVC tubing fits the 650? I think the 1K uses cartridges.

Jerry, you should be able to change the plugs(up to 06) without taking the side panels off. You will have to remove the two button head bolts that hold the side panels to the radiator, then remove the bolt that holds the radiator to the front cylinder head. There should be enough flex in the radiator hoses to let you get an articulated spark plug socket into the front cylinder to remove the plug. Its tight but it can be done. The rear you have to remove the tank, but this can be done (albiet carefully) without removing the side panels as well.
