Suzuki Tourers’ Bonus Luggage Offer

01/08/2007

Suzuki Australia has launched a sensational free GIVI luggage offer with the purchase of selected Suzuki touring models, available for a limited time.

Every purchase of a V-Strom 650, V-Strom 1000 enduro tourer or Bandit 1250S sports tourer between 1 August and 31 October 2007, inclusive, will include a bonus GIVI luggage set.

Maximising riders’ storage options, the stylish and practical GIVI luggage set includes a 39-litre deluxe top box, 41-litre deluxe panniers, plus a custom rack system tailor-made for each motorcycle.

The black, 39-litre, deluxe top box offers enough space to hold a helmet and additional luggage, while the matching black, 41-litre deluxe panniers offer the unbeatable practicality of GIVI’s exclusive MONOKEY® open/release system, which incorporates a revolutionary new supplementary lid with combination opening.

For over 25 years, the Italian firm has been a market leader in motorcycle accessories, creating an innovative and high-quality array of products, ranging from mobile phone holders to helmets, spoilers and luggage.

Available from any authorised Suzuki dealer, suggested retail prices (inc GST) on the applicable models are as follows: V-Strom 650 $9,990, V-Strom 1000 $13,490, Bandit 1250S $11,990.

Interested customers should contact their local Suzuki dealer.

I have got the same panniers but a larger top box and the retail price on those was around the $2200.00 mark. This makes the DL's a very attractive touring package.

The dealer in Brisbane that I have used and can recommend is Suzuki Edge, talk to Alan Peterson.

I hope Suzuki have actually got stocks. Getting Givi stuff from the Australian importers is a pain in the rectum. I can just imagine some new bike owners being told to wait 6 to 8 weeks for the "free" luggage then having the dealers wanting to charge them to fit it because it was not done at the time of sale.

A mate picked up his new DL1000 strom today and had a huge smile on his dial. Now we can have an even drag race.

As expected the Givi gear could take a while to arrive from Suzuki Australia. The importers of Givi, "Ron Angel Imports" are not well known for keeping common stock.

I'm told that there is a 3 - 4 week delay on the Givi products. My Suzuki dealer has sold 4 x DL650's in the last week because of the promo.

If I could find a dealer that knew how to close a deal I'd have cash down on an '08 by now - mostly because of the promo. I was going to wait till June next year (end of warranty) but the deal seems pretty good?

It may also be that I like new stuff . . .more on dealers elsewhere - when this is over one way or another :)

I suspect that the deal only applies to current stocks of 07's. Suzuki do this sort of deal almost every year about this time to clear unsold stock before the new models arrive.
AFAIK the 08's only have different paint anyway.

My '08 info so far - unknown truthful content? I had a dealer get on the phone and ask Suzuki because he had no idea. He could have just faked the whole call - don't know - seemed real. Another checked all his documentation in store:

Same bike, different colour.

Same price.

'08 Compliance.

Luggage deal will apply to '08's. The phone call to Suzuki confirmed this one.

ABS info on instore doco - phone call was not so certain - possibly later?

September/October availability.

One dealer only had ABS models on his Suzuki info sheet so he wasn't sure if non-ABS was going to be available. Believe it or not, I was trying to get this guy to take a deposit on '08 with luggage, c'stand, h'guards and Givi bars right then and there - he knows I was keen. He checked the instore doco - he was going to ge on the phone to Suzuki first thing monday, find out the truth and get back to me ASAP - still hasn't called? Does he want to sell one - he was at the top of the list until lunch yesterday?

The first dealer is the on that got on the phone to Zuke and got the info up top. He then proceeded to tell me that it would be something "really special" - the first '08 with luggage so he couldn't talk price. "Really Special" - I said sure - until 20 mins later when 5000 more of them roll off the ship. He then proceeded to tell me that it wasn't that simple. You get from Suzuki then sell to me. How (*&^#% simple can it get - moron! Either that or he thinks I'm a moron . . .

At least this guy called me back the next day to see if I wanted to go ahead with it - he stuffed that up too however. I had him look at mine for a trade while I was there. We talked about it and (as expected) I decided to sell it privately.

His words - "To minimise changeover cost you should sell it privately".

Me - "I will"

When he called back and I told him that I got a better deal elsewhere he asked if the other dealer knew I had a trade in.

Me - "We spoke about this - I'm not trading it in, I'm going to sell privately"

Him - "Oh - in that case we can definitely do a better deal - we can definitely beat any price you can get elsewhere"

Suddenly the first '08 is not so special - To$$er

You'd think that after I mentioned Stromtrooper, I know more about the product than they do, I've already got one, I've been seeing other dealers and I am ready to drop some cash on one as soon as they get the info and offer me the right deal they would just get to the point!!??

Dear Dealers,

I know 500 other people with V-Stroms. With some research I could tell you the price in 10 different countries and at least 15 Australian prices. I know exactly what I want. I know how much I am going to pay. Stop lying to me. Tell me the truth. (Same thing - 2 different ways - take note!). I have done the salesmanship part of this transaction for you. You are failing to get me some forms to sign and take my money. Your lack of competence astounds me. Here's hoping you get your act together before I'm next in Brisbane and buy one there - as I did last time. The longer this goes on for the more I think I might keep my current bike and put this cash towards my unit deposit instead - or some other toy. Your sales window is finite. My interests are many.

Me

I wonder what would happen if I wandered in with $9500 cash in my hand . .?

One phone call, one minute on the phone.

08's will be available in Australia in November
There will be two model 650's. ABS and non ABS.
ABS will be $500 extra.
The colour will be Blue. No word on whether there will be an ABS colour and a non ABS colour or whether they will all be the same.
The 1250 Bandit will also be released in 08 with and without ABS but will have two colours.

If you want a real dealer who wants to sell and knows what is going on send me a PM and make plans to come to Melbourne to collect your new toy.

I would take an ABS for $500 but I'd heard $1000. Maybe I will anywany - then again, at this rate, maybe I wont?

I'd also heard there would not be an ABS Bandit?

Maybe your dealer has "The Truth" . . ?

I quite like my soft bags (unless it's raining - I've been in plenty of that lately) and I don't think mine is going to drop THAT much more value in the next year and 30,000 k's.

Perhaps I'll go back to the original plan of getting a new one when the warranty runs out - an '09?

Perhaps I'll umm and ahhh a bit longer. A week ago I would not have given it a second thought?

Thanks for the offer and you never know . . .

Whilst I think ABS is great and I would have paid the extra if it had been available I won't be trading on what is essentially the same bike.
I think 09 would be a better bet as it's far more likely that there will actually be some real changes or even a new bike by then. If not the BMW 800GS should be out and maybe Honda will have released the rumoured mid size dual sport so there might even be some other models to look at.

New dealer response - they finally called me back:

'08 Avail November

Non-ABS Blue - 9990

The ABS colour will be grey - 10,490 (I'm guessing grey could be silver-grey)

Sounds like we might be homing in on the truth.

I'd say you'll struggle to get any decent dicounting of the 08 ABS model, as dealers will probably struggle for stock... well thats what they will tell you anyway. The 07 can be had for a touch under 9k +orc, but I the ABS will probably hold at 10.5k untill all backorders are filled and dealers have unsold stock on the floor.

oodeano... check ya PM's...

Not if you live in Melbourne. There are a couple of dealers who go straight to the basement as far as pricing is concerned and the rest of the dealers have to follow.
My bet is that $10,200 on road for an ABS will be achievable before Christmas.
BTW. Sounds like my one minute phone call was 100% on the money. It's good to know that "contacts" are good ones.

I think they will be the twin plug engine just like they have in the states for the past 6 plus months .
When I spoke to Suzuki Australia about the 1250 bandit ( before it was released overseas) they said " no one in Australia would buy a bike with ABS and they are not going to import them because people would not pay the money " I simply informed him that I and many more people would pay for ABS ,and it only costs Suzuki less than $200 US to have ABS so you make more profit out of selling a bike with ABS,he was shocked that I would know anything , Funny people think that in this day of the internet etc you can keep people in the dark and they will believe you BS.

The Wee Stroms have had a twin plug engine in Australia for 12 months.
All the current 07 Red colour bikes are twin plug.

They will if there can screw you like they do us, we have to pay around $10,000 Australia dollars ( about $8,200 US dollars ) for a 650 without ABS.

I get to enjoy the bike naked at least anyway!:)

I had to wait longer than 6 weeks for Givi luggage earlier this year when there was no promo on.
Blame Ron Angel they are probably the most hopeless distributor in the motorcycle industry in this country.

I was a sucker for this deal too! Latest report from my dealer is that they should arrive next week. Order has been in about 6 weeks.

The sweetener that got my attention was that he was throwing in a centre stand, Givi crash bars, heated grips and a tall windscreen plus the luggage deal - all for RRP. I signed up on the spot.

Phillip Russell Motorcycles, Warrnambool, Victoria. He was racking up sales to win a Suzuki sales competition. He won, and is off to Paris tomorrow.

I think the Suzuki deals ends soon (or now!)

BTW, Phillip has be lobbying Suzuki for some time to bring out a touring version of the V-Strom, not unlike the GT models in the UK. I think Suzuki Australia would be wise to listen to him.

I am thinking that the eagle has landed:p

Hi all, reckon I'd be the mate that Auntie BB referrred to in a previous post here, finally received my bags and top box with deposit paid on the 9/8 and delivery on the 12/10. What am I complaining about?
Bugger to fit too.

Off with Stretch for a few days start Monday, crash bars yet to be fitted so will be looking to stay VERY upright.

Hope to catch up with you all on a ride sometime, maybe even getting a little bit dirty.

Cheers, Scott.

Well the Givi Boxes have arrived and are ready for fitting. That's a total of 8 weeks. Now that would piss you off if you had a big trip planned soon after purchasing a new bike.

On the upside the dealer is going to fit them up free of charge.

There was nothing in the promo wording that said fitting was extra and the photos showed the three bikes with the luggage installed so I believe buyers have a right to assume that fitting is included.
I wonder how many have paid extra?
