The Dl1000 was recently reviewed in the July 14 Wheels section. Came in for well deserved praise although the last couple of sentences surprised me, basically saying that for $3000 less, the Wee would be as good or better choice. Although I could say "I told you so" since I have a Wee, kind of left me cold that the review was wrapped up like that.
I had two opportunities to drive both and while I chose the smaller V, if Santa ever drops the big V in the driveway, I'll be driving it too.
Here's the link.

I bought my dl1000 this spring and really debated between the two. I think it is really a personal decision based on rider likes and dislikes. +1 for you wee owners.

"The fairing provides better protection than its appearance would suggest and provided a welcome hiding place from the wind."
This made me laugh tho!
That was a review? Sounded like a comparison at the end. And a biased one at that. Not that great of a writer IMHO. You can't knock the Wee, except in good natured fun.:p But the litre bikes power is so much fun. The author should find another proffesion.

Have to agree, the article put me off a bit because it's not objective. The Dl1000 should be compared to it's own class, regardless on whatever opinions are out there on the Wee. If your going to compare 2 bikes, compare them at the same time and let them stand on their own merits, which each certainly can.
Kind of like taking a pretty girl out on a date and telling her she's attractive but that her younger sister is cuter!
Anyway, thought I'd share. (My wife actually saw the article and passed it to me - could it be she's starting to migrate to the dark side?)

http://s3.amazonaws.com/advrider/thumb.gif for this statement. As similar as these bikes look, they differ in alot of areas. People who buy the Vee are looking for different things in a bike than those who buy a Wee. It makes no sense to compare them to each other.

What kinds of different things are you referring to? Seriously, as I'm in the early stages of shopping for one or the other myself.

I came off of a Honda 1300 so I assumed I needed the 1000. After riding the 1000 for a few weeks now I am sure I would have been just as happy with the 650.
Not gonna get rid of the DL1000 but any stretch but the 650 is plently, even for touring.
