I'm getting together with some riding buddies from another site for a Mirror Lake ride on July 28th. If anyone is interested in joining us I can post details.

I'm looking to do some rides.
So, whats the route plan? How fast do you guys usually go?

Details are not finalized but there are some riders coming from Utah County, some from Salt Lake and Davis County and a couple from Park City. The basic plan is to meet in Kamas around 9 a.m.
The group is diverse (cruisers, V-Strom, FJR, ST 1300 etc) so we aren't planning on breaking any land speed records.
We're planning on riding up to Mirror Lake (stopping for obligatory photo ops along the way) make our way back down and have a bite to eat.
I'll post specific details in the next couple days. It would be great to meet you and ride together.

I may be in. Another similar route that I've been planning is highway 35 from Francis through Woodland and up over Wolf Creek Pass. I just drove it last week with my family in my car and remembered what a great ride it is. Lot's of twisties and great scenery.

I've been plotting routes this morning. The longer route is 260 miles. It starts in Park City --- > Kamas ---> Evanston, WY via Route 150 over Mirror Lake --- > Woodruff, UT --- > Huntsville --- > Coalville --- > Park City.
The shorter route starts the same, but breaks off at Evanston down I-80 back to Park City. It's 158 miles.
The beauty of the routes is that those who don't want to ride as far can break off and shorten the route.

There is a great little coffee shop in Kamas, on the east side of the street, half a block north of the Chevron which is at the turn to Mirror Lake (Highway 150) called Provisions. They open around 7 AM. There is also a nice restaurant in town just before the turn called Timber Creek Cafe. Good breakfast food.
If doing a route through Evanston it is advisable to get the early start you are talking about. Later in the day the winds going across the flats after the state line can be strong. If doing and out and back route the Ranger station or Bear River Store are good turning around points. The road gets flat and the good turns are over from there to Evanston.
This is the view looking west from the Bald Mountain Pass a couple of weeks ago, despite the date the photo says!!

I'll meet up with you guys in Kamas and ride the Mirror Lake Highway until I find a nice spot on the river to fly fish. I just bought a Wolfman Beta bag that I want to try out to see how all my fishing gear fits. A great day for me is when I can combine riding in the twisties with a little fly fishing.
I also just had my first service done and can't wait to open the Wee up a little more.

Here's the plan. Meet in the Kimball Junction Wal-Mart parking lot at 9:00 then ride the route listed above with the option, of course, of slipping away at anytime to shorten the ride, wet a hook or two, etc.

Just bumping this to the top for anyone who is interested. At last count there are 8 or 9 riders who are going. I don't want to be the only V-Strom in the group :)

Nice meeting you people on the ride.
I broke off later at Woodruff to go to hit Bear Lake and Logan Canyon.
When are we going to see some pics. I would like to see those drive by pics.

Fun ride! Thanks TB for organizing and letting me tag along. I enjoyed meeting everyone.
I broke off a few miles past the Bear River Lodge. I went back to the lodge and had a greasy cheeseburger and then fished the river for a couple of hours. I didn't bring my fishing shoes so I wore my sandals. Bad idea. I ended up slipping on the mossy rocks--jambed my thumb trying to catch myself and got soaked! I still ended up catching a few fish so it was worth it.
I had a little surprise waiting for me when I got back to my bike. I changed out of my fishing gear and back into my riding gear--mounted my bike--pressed the starter button and....nuthin'! I guess in my rush to get on the river I must have left the ignition on. Luckily there was enough grade that I was able to coast down and "push start" it.
I never realized before today how much you use your left thumb to ride a motorcycle.

Hey, thanks for abandoning me you guys -- leaving me alone to defend the Wee's honor against the KLRs, FJR and ST1300 (forget the cruisers in the group) :p This was the first time I've had the Wee in any real twisties and I was very impressed. I made the mistake of getting behind the cruisers after a rest stop heading into Huntsville. I kept thinking "why are you guys hitting your brakes so much?" :D
It was great to meet you both. ddreg, I love the ride to Bear Lake and Logan Canyon is one of my favorite rides. Satch, sorry to hear about your thumb.
Let's get together again soon for another ride. BTW, I believe I owe you a beer Satch!
