I got tired of waiting for the oem luggage cases. The order was placed on 5/16 and delivery was originally set for 6/24. The updated "release" date I got yesterday was 7/12, so I cancelled the order.
Instead, I ordered a set of Pelicans, with racks, in gray, from Caribou cases. I should have them by the beginning of next week. Roger is such a pleasure to do business with.

I tried the Givi (V45) and within a month it was trashed by a tramp with a screwdriver. So I did some research and decided on a set of Metal Mules.
Here's the story.
Next year [2008] I am moving to South America from the UK for a couple of years work/touring on the WeeStrom. I will be fitting the Metal Mule panniers, and using a canoe bag across the saddle (with Pacsafe & w/proof cover).
The MM panniers are 38 litres on the left and 32 on the right with a S/S exhaust baffle. I need to change the indicators as the originals are too wide. the frame sits very tight. I will also have the bottle carriers fitted (2x2ltr) for the long distance stuff.
I would like a tankbag and pannier system. Has anyone seen or heard of one for the Wee?
I made a set for the Yamaha Divi600 but was hoping I could save myself time by buying off the shelf. Any help on this would be very much appreciated .

This is one of the narrowest options for the DL-650. They make the bike 38.5 inches wide. Only the Jesse cases are narrower at 36 inches, but lots of horror stories from people ordering those.

I could have sworn you had something else, at least not the Caribou racks

You're right. I had the Pelicans mounted on Krauser racks. That combination was about 4 inches wider than the Caribou rack system and was probably the reason I had stability problems at 80 mph or faster.

Nice.
I've been looking into a rack system to use two Zero aluminum cases as side bags. They're light, strong, come with an O-ring seal and combination lock, and go for $50-100 used on eBay. I want to keep the bike narrow for city use, so these are 18x13x6.
