Vermont Ride/Johnny A. Concert Pictures, Part I

Friday Evening:

VTstromK5 and I met at Hooters in Burlington, VT late Friday afternoon. It was a 230 mile ride-to-the-ride for me. Delightful place, Hooters. First time trip for me. Lola the waitress kept the root beer flowing. Shoulda gone out to the bike for the camera. One of life's small regrets...

Jackpiner57 missed our Hooters supper and met us at Grand Isle State Park at sundown. We eventually settled in for the night after the twelve minute rainstorm started, and the volunteer ranger told us to shut up.

Saturday:

We rode north on Grand Isle and Isle la Motte eventually crossing the bridge into New York state at Rouses Point, near the Canadian border.

The day was in the mid 60's and there were not many picture stops. This is what I managed to get.

We rode west to Malone and then down Route 30 (a designated U.S. Scenic Bypass) to Tupper Lake where we met Joyous7, the fourth member of our Saturday evening concert ride.

To make the concert on time, the route to South Burlington included the Grand Isle ferry from Plattsburgh to Gordon Landing, VT. This was a rare opportunity to get pictures. The ferry runs every 20 minutes and transport for bike and rider costs $5.50.

Jen Murzda was the opening act for Johnny A. and she's a delightful singer/songwriter. Very rhythmic.

Johnny A. is the best of every guitar player I've ever liked, Jeff Beck, Frank Zappa, Richie Blackmore, Pat Metheny, and a touch of Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Robin Trower, and a few others.

The ride continued today, with different riders. Jackpiner57 and I headed southeast to our respective abodes, splitting up just south of Montpelier, VT.

Talk about a small world..........These folks go to a concert up in Vermont where Jen Murzda was performing.......Jen's partner, Angela, seeing the motorcycle garb asks what kind of bikes they are riding.........Upon being told V Strom's, Angela offers that her father rides a V Strom....These folks say "Hey, we know your father!"....That father would be me!........

We joined up with the group after the concert. Well really we took over there campsite while they went out on the town. :rolleyes:

My plan was to leach onto whatever the best ride out on Sunday was. That plan worked perfectly :mrgreen:

Tucker, Gary, Anne and I followed Jack over what I agree are the best roads I've seen in VT. Tom and Jack have requested track log and mine is available here:

Thanks so much for the great rides and all the laughs.....and as far as Jack is concerned.....anyone wishing to get those life insurance policies up dated prior to his demise.....should probably do it now!! lol I AM NOT MAD!!!! lol
Looking forward to the next trip......where I will certainly have a camera in some very unsusual places! :-).......JACK!!! .....payback...lol

Thanks Jack, I had a great time with everyone. It was a pleasure to meet joyous7 and ride with her from Tupper Lake to VT. The Sat. night campout was fun.:D

Jack lead us on a ride along Lake Champlain that included the loop around Isle la Mott and over to Tupper Lake and back. A very scenic ride! Thanks Jack.:D

Johnny A. is a great guitarist! I was awed by his abilities. He is the best guitarist I have ever seen, and I've seen many of the worlds best.

I'm looking forward to seeing him again at the Onset Blues Festival.
