Hey,
I live in denver and my dl1000 needs some work me thinks. It is hesitating and not running as smooth as it should. Rather annoying. Anyone out there who has performed these operations before who would be willing to help me out?? I'll bring the beer! Thanks.

I live in Colorado Springs and have asked the same question to the forum. I got a bit of info back. I have not had much luck finding Strommers in CO. Maybe we could work on it together. I have an 05 DL1000, and I also need to do a T.B.S.. I would also like to pull my secondaries. I think the best way to do it would be at the same time. Shoot me a reply if you're interested! Happy Stromming!!!

I have not had much luck finding Strommers in CO.

That's because we're too busy riding. This is the first time I've been on the forum in several months and if I wasn't stuck at work I'd be out riding now.
I had mine done (TBS) at Apex along with my valve adjustment, new chain, and sprockets. but am hesitant to recommend them. It seems to run rougher than before with worse mileage and oil leaks everywhere.

Hello Colorado front range Stommers.

I am in Colorado Springs, bought an 03 DL1K3 at Apex back in January. The yellow one for those of you that might have happened to stop in every now and then. It was there for many months and they were glad to sell it to me at a great price.

Anyway, I am about ready to do a TBS but want the valves checked first. I bought the bike at 14,985 miles and just turned 19,000 this week. I doubt the valves were done by the previous owner based on the mileage when he got rid of it. What happened, vstromper? It leaks oil? Runs rougher? Geez, I am bummed, but glad you shared that. I won't take it there unless you have a good report that they made things right.

Fremont County Motorsports down in Florence has a pretty good reputation, $50 per hour on labor, and most bikes are $400-600 under list, which NO ONE does up in Colorado Springs.

Anyway, I'd like to meet up with someone and do a "group TBS" or share other tips and just do maintenance in general. I put a TFI on mine, and it is worth it.

Thanks.

hey just saw this thread. You may want to talk to the guys at TK/Faster Motorsports in Denver. They are about 2 blocks west of I-25 on 8th Ave.

These guys all race super sport motorcycles. They are really nice guys. I have spent quite a bit of time hanging out BS'in there in the past.

I had a decent amount of work done on my 05 Honda CBR600RR there. They are more than willing to show you around the garage. Show you their latest "projects" and their own race built bikes. They do top notch dyno tuning and motor building.

I would be very suprised if they could not help you guys out.

good luck

I concur. I have had good luck at TK/Faster, although every time I go in there they try to sell me a power commander :)

It's not that they won't make it right. They will take care of it if you take it back. In fact they are very nice and very accomidating.

It's just that 2 times out of 3 I've had to take it back. And there are some little things that I haven't addressed with them that just make me uncomfortable about going back.

For Example:

It seems to run a little warmer then before, not a lot, just a little. I used to run with 2 bars on the temp gauge and it would go to three if sat a long light and it was over 85 degrees or so. Now it will go to three bars when sitting at a long light regardless of ambient temerature and it draws coolant out of the overflow reservoir in to the radiator almost every time I shut it down. The bottle was empty Friday and i had to toop it off. This just 4k miles since the coolant was changed. I think they didn't top it off correctly but it is operating within normal specs. All the same, I will break out the book and change my own coolant next time. If they gave the same level of service to sncronizing my throttle bodies that may explain why it seems to run a little rougher than before. Again not bad enough to do without it for the time they would need it to take care of it but bad enough not to want to pay them to do it next time.

When I got it back (from the 15k service) the front valve cover was leaking right on the exhaust pipe and I took it right back and had them fix it. They took care of it no problem as they had the cover off for the valve adjustment. Now I'm getting oil leaking down the back of the engine, i assume from the rear valve cover but haven't got up under there to look.

I just have no confidence in their service department.

I'm talking about my experience with Apex Sports in Colorado Springs. Sorry about the confusion.
