I am leaving thursday heading to Laguna hills area california. I decided to t ake I-40 as my first long alone ride and I am somewhat geographically challenged. wondered if anyone gets together saturday mornings in southern cal for coffee. The following week am heading to colorado via utah on 70 and 50. Any must sees along those routes and any towns to avoid. I was told to get a cooling vest for the desert section and am praying it shows up in time

Just saw your post Deb.
If you know where your staying in So. Cal. have this Free Utah Map Mailed to you. It will show you all the great sites to go visit.
If you can't get a map mailed to you on time, stop at any Utah rest area, or Chamber of Commerce etc. in Southern Utah, like St. George and ask for a free Official Utah Highway Map. A must have, while on the road. Have fun.

Had a great ride put on close to two thousand miles in just over a week. My favorites were routes 14, hwy 89, and 24 in utah. beautiful country lots of deer luckily crossing the road a split second before me. some heat but manageable. Now in buena vista colorado planning some great day rides

Hi Deb-
If you're still in CO, you should venture onto Hwy 167 to Bishop's Castle...the road is fun and twisty, and you might be fortunate enough to catch the castle builder guy amid one of his rant/monologues to himself! :)
