Leave Enumclaw May 30 in AM. Use hwy. 410 (Chinook Pass). 40 degrees at the top http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f233/nvr2old/100_1244.jpg

From Yakima I took 97 to Biggs, OR. and then 206 where it crossed the john Day river http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f233/nvr2old/100_1245.jpg

and went by this wind farm http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f233/nvr2old/100_1246.jpg

After Condon and Fossil this appeared on 216 (reminded me of Utah) http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f233/nvr2old/100_1248.jpg

Then I finished the day in Redmond, OR. visiting my aunt. End of day 1.

Out at 8 AM on 97 to LaPine, then took 31 to Lakeview (140 miles of empty road that reminded me of old western movie locations). Turned on 140 to Kalamath Falls. A scenic route with 4 summits and lot of curves. This is a rest stop 15 miles from K Falls http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f233/nvr2old/100_1255.jpg

There were about 10 riders at the motel when I arrived (21 showed by evening). The motel owner (Vince) is a Strommer and he hosted a great BBQ for us. Thanks to him and his wife for making a good day even better. http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f233/nvr2old/100_1257.jpg

For the ride to Reno from K Falls I rode with Mike(Nighthawk22) and Phil(Elderstrommer). We took 139 to Susanville w/ a few detours. Then 395 south(Lots of road repair w/ delays and truck traffic.) intil 70 E. After lunch we turned S. on 49. Phil unknowingly set his GPS on "Shortest route" and the the next turn ended up putting us on a gravel road that turned into a primitive road. Next it started to rain. About 15 mile into this we came to a Y in the road. 9 miles of unknown to Verdi or 35 miles of paved road. We chose the latter. Other than some bad winds on 80 we arrive in Boomtown to this. http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f233/nvr2old/100_1267.jpg

Had breakfast with Mike and Phil where we descided to do the loop around Lake Tahoe. The thunder storms gone now and the day couldn't have been nicer. http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f233/nvr2old/100_1271.jpg

Phil at Emerald Bay. http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f233/nvr2old/100_1274.jpg

Then on to Carson City and Adventure Motostuff. They had sandwiches and drink for everyone. I think all found something to buy for there Strom.

Had breakfast with Mike and Phil before we each went our own way. First stop was a campground on route 89 for a break. http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f233/nvr2old/100_1287.jpg

I changed my route to include Mt. Lassen Vol. Park and was glad I did. This is a reminder of Yellowstone.

From Red Bluff I took 36 to the coast(This road is 140 mile of nothing but curves. Took 4 hrs.) 20 miles of it went thru some of the Redwoods.

Ended up in Eureka about 8PM. It was sprinkling some so I desided to for go camping and got a room at the Motel 6. 500 mile day.

Woke up to this.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f233/nvr2old/100_1302.jpg

Stopped at Trees of Mystery(first break in the rain since Eureka). http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f233/nvr2old/100_1305.jpg

One photo of the rainy coast that continued all the way to Reedsport, OR. http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f233/nvr2old/100_1309.jpg

At Reedsport I had lunch and changed my plan of spending the night on the coast. So from there I took hwy. 38 to I-5 (Great road) and slabbed it all the way home. Arrived at 10:30 PM, 610 miles later. Total mileage 2300.
