View Full Version : Florida Rider Passing Through/SE and Mid Atlantic States

Beginning Monday June 18th, I will be taking a ride from Palm Coast, FL through the mountains of NE GA, western NC, SW Virginia, WV and ending up in the mountains of SW PA.

I will be riding my '07 DL1000, probably dressed in all black battle gear (white gloves and white boots) with a blue & white Arai helmet.

I did the southern portion of this trip (southbound) after flying up to pick up the bike in Wytheville, VA.

Although I moved to FL 4 years ago, I was born and raised in SW PA, and have lived my entire adult life in WV, VA and NC.

This mode of travel is very new to me, as I have traversed the US (coast to coast) on a sport bike (CBR 929) with only a back pack and tank bag.

The V Strom is kind (IMO) of like riding a full dress cruiser and I'm really enjoying this aspect of touring.

and the Strom! I am in the central part of NC too far from your planned route. I have been to the mountains recently and it is a blast! Be safe and enjoy.

Moved from Cary to Palm Coast........... Daughter and grandchildren are still there.

I may divert through that area on my return. I will be spending nights (both north and south bound) in Blacksburg, VA.

Will probably ride route 8 south bound, then head over to Raleigh area.

Yes, per your suggestion. No response yet. Possibly he is busy, as I noticed in your post that he is organizing a ride this weekend.

I am familiar with many roads in the area, just not the ones I was asking questions about.

I don't really think it will be a problem, my target that night is Blacksburg, VA.
