GPS - Measure my Speeed

I want to test my speedometer since I have read that it can be off 7%. In my crude tests, mine doesn't seem to be that far off. I came along side my buddy on a different bike and compared speeds and we seem to be close. I also passed through a school zone where they had a radar reading set up and it said I was doing 28 and I looked at my speedometer and it said close to the same thing.
A friend loaned me his Garmin 60CSx gps machine. I am hoping somebody can easily tell me how to use it to measure my speed so I can test my speedo. (this might be too much to ask, I know I am being lazy cuz I could read the owners manual :???: ) But if you could even point me into what function/screen I need to be on. I see the Trip Computer and the moving average and overall average. But I don't think I want average. I don't want it to measure me as I get up to speed and slow down to stop.
Any help would be appreciated. THANKS.

Since I am at work (and should be working :rolleyes: ) , I decided to flip through the GPS owners manual instead!! Is the Compass Page the one I want? It has the speed indicator on it. Will that measure my current speed as I am heading down the road? THANKS

The second page, Trip Computer, is the most visible for speed. Use the option for "big numbers". You'll see Elevation, Speed, and Time. It's not so accurate when your speed is changing, such as when you're accelerating. but once you get to a relatively constant speed it's pretty accurate.
My 07 DL650 is off the typical 7-8%.

Thanks for the help. I found the place you mentioned on the GPS.
The wind was blowing pretty hard tonight but I wanted to try it anyway. Not a good idea. It was too hard to keep control of the bike in the wind, hold a steady speed and look at the GPS with my left hand. Plus it was cold!!
I was able to tell that my speedo is off after all. I'm not sure exactly how much off (it seemed to be close to 5 mph off at 60 mph) but I will try again on a calmer, warmer day. (BTW my truck speedometer is about 2 mph off. These GPS things are cool.)
