FJR/vstrotrooper-805gregg,

We plan doing the same thing ourself's.

We are goig to go threw Plymonth,Fiddletown,Volcano and the 49er mining park.
We will be meeting at Rudy's Hideway right off hwy 50 and Hazel ave. at 10;00am.

If your coming frome the Bay Area just get on hwy 50 to Taheo as you get into Sac. Follow that to Hazel Ave exit. When you get off at the exit take a right. There will be another light (Folsom Blvd) take another right. 1/2 block up on the right is Rudys. You should be able to see it as you come down the off ramp on your right.

If interested drop me a email:

Hi. I do not usually post, however, I was hoping someone here might have info on the Reno ride. In particular, I was planning to camp, but I am unsure as to the camping in that area. Has anyone camped in a prior year? and is it feasible? My work schedule is busy and I will probably head up early (butt crack of dawn) friday and hopefully find camping and them join the group at the hotel. Any helpful comments would be appreciated.

Additionally, will anyone be heading up there from So Cal?

Thanks in advance,

If you can swing it, stay at the Boomtown thats where all the activities are centered, it was neet last year to see 100+ V-Stroms in the parking garage, I think the camping is kind of out of town.

I saw Debi's post and sent her a PM. Anyway, having the great experience of living in Reno and 5 minutes from Boomtown, I thought that I might be able to throw in some local color and campng opportunities. Boomtown is really west of Reno by 5 miles or so. It is close to Verdi and appx 20 miles or so from Truckkee, Ca. and LOTS of camp spots. From my home in NW Reno, I have been riding after work to the Boca and Stampede reservoirs. The Truckee winds its way out of Tahoe and along canyons in to reservoirs and then along to Boomtown/through Reno. Anyway there are LOTS and LOTS of camping spots along the Boca/Stampede Areas within 20 or so minutes of Boomtown. Just an option. There is also a dirt road from Verdi, Dog Town Rd to Boca/Stampede but that takes quite a bit more time. If there are any questions, get back to me. Brian

Hi 805Gregg,

I'm thinking I will leave San Diego on Wednesday morning taking 215 to 395. I am going to look into staying in Lone Pine or Bishop on Wednesday night. I think you have about the same distance to cover if you are going to do your easting first. Want to meet up near the intersection of 215 and 395?

emsdaddy, are you up for this?

Anthony?

Shep's going to be there because he has to bring us the hats.

Man, I'd sure like to go.

I couldn't leave San Diego until about 12 noon on Friday though--- that would put me in Reno about 9 pm... 567 miles worth.

Don't have a place to crash either--- Then blast back on Sunday.

Hmmm...

I've changed my plans and I have decided to ride from Vista to Ridgecrest tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon. I'm staying at the Vagabond Inn.

Thursday I will ride to Sonora. Friday we will descend en masse to Reno. Call me on my cell if you want to link up 760-445-2675. (Leave a message with a good time to return your call as I don't answer calls when I am under way.)

805Gregg,

I rode into Ridgecrest just after sunset. Late afternoon and early evening are a pleasant part of the day to ride.

Mapquest says it's 357 miles from Ridgecrest to Sonora and that it will take 6 hours. I'll get on the road at about 9:00 or 10:00 AM putting me into Sonora at about 4:00. You'll probably overtake me.;)

Fast Eddie, mapquest must be routeing you through LA it cant be that far, take 178 through Isbella to 155 out of Wolford heights west to 99 I think closer to 250 miles. Kurt see you in Sonora. Just got to get my crew started then I'm out of here.
