Florida Strom in NC May 19-26

Hello everyone!

We are in Gainesville Florida but heading to the mountains of NC the end of the month.

We are staying in the Burnesville (about 60 miles east of Asheville, near Spruce Pine) area. If there is anyone in this group familiar with that area please feel free to give recommended rides or even join us!

I've got a 2006 DL650 with about 8000 miles and my SO, Rick, rides a HD Sportster (but don't hold that against him. He has joined me on many Florida V-Strom rides).

I live about 30 miles from Burnsville but have not ridden that area. I am curious as to why you chose that area when there is Deal's Gap and the Chertola Hwy. area west of Asheville.

Also you have the BRP and as far as off road that the V can ride the group I will be riding with knows alot of great areas to ride.

The only rides in that area that I have done is 19W that goes around the Burnsville area into TN around Flag Pond and it is a good ride.

Hope you guys find some good routes and I am not saying there aren't any in that area. I just never road that area other than 19W.

A very good friend has a gorgeous 3 bedroom house that we get to use for FREE (well in exchange for some chores). We are getting too old for camping and definitely enjoy the view of Mt. Mitchell off the front porch. The house even has a garage for the bikes.

We have been up there several times and each time find some great new routes. Every bit as nice as the Dragon and not crowded. I'm just fishing to see if anyone wants to join (lead) us on a ride or offer insight into roads that we may not have stumbled on yet. It's always great to meet new friends no matter what bike they chose.

Gosh you're making me blush.

Seriously we would love some company on our rides if anyone is available. The roads in this area are really great. I'm especially fond of the Roan Mountain loop we did last time. The house we stay at is only 5 miles off the BRP.

If any of our Florida friends can spring a few days we can provide a lovely place to stay. Jim, you and Maryanne would LOVE it even on the Beemer. Come join us!

Thanks for the invite, but all the "time" this year has been allocated already. I would love to ride that area again, have been up there several times before and it is some of the best riding available. Enjoy and hope you make lots of new Strom friends.
