I have been talking to Bobby Sands and he will be unable to make the Big B tech day. I have offered to help him on the 12th. This is one week later then B's. If anyone else is interested, all are welcome to attend.

that's the spirit! i'm certainly in need of a TBS and i'd like to install a couple of power outlets for the IPod and the radar detector. i don't know what else, if anything, i'll have to do. i'm sure i'll think of something. be nice to meet you all to be sure.

oh, i seem to still have that coolant leak. dammit, it's so small that i can't see any liquid (unless i'm not looking in the right spots-- never had a water-cooled bike before) but i can, at times, smell it. i tightened up every clamp i could get to-- we'll see if i got it.

Bobby.

are we still on for the tech day? we could push it back or reschedule it if needed. just let me know what you think-- i'm easy.

I am still OK with it. The weather looks like it will be a lot better then Big B's tech day was. Do you have an idea of a time when you will arrive?
My address is:
Ken Novak
2541 Edgebrook Ave.
Akron, Ohio 44312
H-330-481-3133
C-216-210-4160

I am about 3 minutes from interstate 76. It is actually right behind the house on the other side of the creek.

Do you want me to pick up the stuff for the extension tubes?

Let me know Bobby what you want to do.
Ken

i can still be there saturday morning sometime. i think akron is about 3 hours from me. what time is good? 9 am? 10 am? 8 (gulp) am?

man, i would be really grateful if you could pick up the gear for the extensions on the tbs. i don't have a clue. of course i'll settle up with you when i arrive.

i'm trying to get a powerlet or two as well, but as i at mum's in wisconsin, i don't know how well that will work, but the real reason to come is to meet other strom-type people and do a tbs and see how far off my ride is compared to another. i think the chudder my bike exhibits is hair-raising.

No problem, I will have the stuff here for the extension tubes. As far as time, that is up to you. You are the one traveling to get here. I should be up by 5:00 or so and head to the garage about 8:00 to get things ready and moved around. (I have a small garage that is full of projects). If you want to say around 10:00, that's fine. Or 9:00ish, whatever works.

Is this Saturday? If so I think I have to bail, my fiancee graduates from CSU that day.

BobbySands

okay, that's great. i should be there between 9 and 10 am, no prob.

Buckeye, your girl graduates on saturday-- so bring her along. what could be a better graduation gift than a throttle body sync on a strom? i'd consider it an honor to provide the bike.

(this is really because i'm from michigan, isn't it?)

Sounds good Bobby. I have the stuff ready. It is a shame you are going to ride 6 hours for a 15 minute poject. But, any reason to ride works. Also I have extra tube to make the sink guage if you want it.

Mz, sorry to hear your tied up.

Anyone else that wants to stop by, please feel free.

I heard about you and your diapers. The ones you use to clean the bike:mrgreen: . It will be a nice day and no rain!! Oh well, see you on the road some where!! It was a pleasure meeting you at Big "B's".

Yeah that really was a great meet. Damn shame about the rain. Lemme check and see what time the graduation shin-dig kicks off, maybe I can ride beforehand and split off to the ceremony, you guys are planning on riding somewhere after the sync right?

I know. I really have to get over the clean bike thing. It's just that she looks so pretty when she's clean and shiny.

I'm convinced that mine runs better when it's dirty. :)

I would guess so. I don't know how BobbySands is going to feel after a 3 hour ride in. I would think that after working on the bikes and lunch, I could talk him into it. I'm going to look at a map and see if I can find somewhere that is back tward the direction he will need to go. Maybe like Lorain, Amherst area. That was a nice ride we did after breakfast the other day. See what happens.

i'm sure i'll be up for a ride. i figured we'd work on the bike some, have some lunch, and then roll out for a ride somewhere after you tell me all the things i need to do on the bike that i haven't been doing.

looking forward to meeting you fellows!

I am pleased to say that I have now received my replacement head bolt from my local dealer (see the pictures from Howboucha). Thanks again for whoever noticed it at BigB's teach day, and steering me in the right direction (pun intended).

i know this is late notice and i hope it doesn't upset the applecart, but ms. bobbysands will be coming along to this tech day. don't worry one bit though, she' got a great sense of humour and in general is simply nice to have around. she's not worth a bowl of monkey spit as a mechanic, but she is a tremendous assistant TO the mechanic.

we're leaving here in a bit. look forward to it!

Glad to hear that you have that bolt....what did it run ya? It should have been free IMHO....I hope you didn't buy it. We need to hook up and go ride soon....Scarlet Harlot is getting the "twin pipe fever", maybe he'll have a 1000 soon.

I hope the Akron techday goes well......have fun guys!

It was a small, but fun gathering for the Akron tech day. Thanks goes out to handyhiker for having us to his house and providing us with lunch. It was great meeting BobbySands and his wife. I have a horrible memory, so have forgotten their names already. I'll write it down next time we meet :) . Hopefully the big V was running a little better for the ride home to Michigan.

Here is handyhiker, Mrs. BobbySands, and BobbySands at Brandywine Falls.

hey, thanks to Handy for inviting me down. it the TBS worked very well. turns out they were off (Handy knew it before we started listening to it run) and fixing it made quite a difference. did if fix my chudder? no. but it did help it very much. it's barely evident in lower gears but i still feel it in 6th. it's much smoother below 3000 as well. whatever issues the machine has will be exagerated by out of sync throttle bodies. we also removed the secondaries and while this didn't make any "magic" it makes the bike pull very smoothly from 3800 on. there's no "blast off" effect once i get past 5k or so.

just to let you know how much differently it ran, i kept shifting WAY too early into the next gear and lugging the motor. it pulls so much better at 4K or so that i suppose my body assumes that i must be in the 5500 mark and clicks into the next gear. anyway, it took a while to get used to it but i love the way it runs now.

it was nice to meet GRS1959 who has a really beautiful Wee. that was a good lookin' bike.

we had a nice time, nice easy lunch, a good ride and a lot of fun. and, just for the record, Handy really IS handy. i think he could work in just about any damn trade out there. his machine is also very nice lookin'. the mrs. was very taken with it in black with the black crash bars. i probably could've talked her into buying a new one on the way home as long as it were black. she wants the red Wee though.

P.S. Mrs. BobbySands is going to hate that picture. i should have had her take my welder's hat off and straighten her hair out. oh well, she was an excellent pillion all the way home.

It was great to have you down. Glad to hear the bike is running better. If we had more time, we could have seen a lot more historical sights.
The big question, did you get an air filter? Have fun and ride safe!!

BobbySands
05-16-2007, 04:52 PM
air filter had to be ordered, even here. the closest Suzuki shop wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire (and .7 miles from my house, too) unless you have a gsx or a quad. so i have to go pick this thing up in a day or two 40 miles away.

Yes, dog is fine. It was my brother inlaw's dog, as we were dog sitting here. 4hours after the dog ran off we found someone had droped it off at a local vet.
