Honestly, I can only think of KOA or what might be in a AAA travel book.
However you may have just opened a real need for this forum to start collecting data on. Good ones & less than referable. Whatever you fine please post & even better w/ pics of interest.

I tried to be inobtrusive, partly to be away from road noise, but mostly to avoid being seen. On I-80 in Illinois and Nebraska I was not bothered. On I-29 in North Dakota, I set up my tent amid some evergreens, and while I was collapsing it in the morning a broom pusher came along and jawed at me a while, then left, saying he would call the cops. None showed up while I was there.

I think Washington State forbids the use of a tent at Rest Areas. A sign at some Rest Areas in Florida says "No Overnight Camping", but I have not sought an exact meaning for that ban.

In other words, I suggest riding as late as you find prudent, then setting up your tent at a Rest Area. I don't think you will often encounter hassles, but that is totally guesswork. I put some effort into searching for guidelines or statutes, but I found no reliable information.

And perhaps Wally World can help:

Good luck!
