Hey guys. It is Friday, 11-12. Cold for Houston. Don't know the temp but was kind of cool on my short 3 mile ride to work today. Still enjoyed it immensely. Brak is out of town this weekend. Hope the Houston Troopers have a good weekend.

New adventure for me. Had my 4K service. At this time I also changed counter shaft sprocket to a 17, wow, a 17? Now have 6th gear as an overdrive. 5th gear is now nearly just like the stock 6th. Cruising along Houstons wonderfull loop and freeway system at 75mph indicated is just around 4700rpm. Acceleration in lower gears gave me no perceptable difference. Would take actual time clock work for me to be able to tell the difference. I can still out accelerate most cars on the city streets.

Working this weekend. Hope Monday is a little warmer. Would like to ride up to Burleson county on FM166, The county map makes this road look like a crooked snake. May even try 3090 in Gimes county, have heard this is a favorite twisty road.

Cheers everyone

Houston

I may be out of town but I'm not out of commission! *grin*

Actually, I'm checking this on a computer here at the U. of Tennessee campus where we're hosting a conference.

I'm pretty stoked about the new outcropping of Houston/Texas V-strom rider forums that have been popping up (here and elsewhere).

It's a cool way to meet fellow riders and if y'all chose a V-Strom as your bike, we're off to a good start!

later,

Fellows,
I live NW Houston and have had a v-strom for about a year.
Most of my riding has been in area bounded by Cypress, B/CS and Huntsville. Have done a little E Texas.

Might be fun to ride with other V-Stroms. I'll periodically check back here to see if any of y'all are discussing a strom-ride.

Steve

As long as the weather isn't like it was yesterday (man, I'm still not used to the downpours in this part of the world), I'll be going out this weekend. Not real sure where, but then the destination doesn't really matter all that much to me.

I have read that FM3050 just west of the Sam Houston NF is REALLY good riding. It was in Ride Texas as one of the best motorcycle roads in the state.

I don't know, just an idea...

Howdy,

I live in Huntsville, about an hour North of Houston on I-45. I ride an R1150GS. Yeah I know, not a Vstrom  But I ride with Vstroms :P Anyway, I organize a lot of rides all over the state, out of state, etc,... I'm always looking for other dualsport riders to play with, seems all my street riding buddies aren't wild about getting off the pavement  I will be planning numerous dualsport trips in East Texas, Arkansas, Southern Missouri, Colorado, North Carolina and other places for 2005. I'm pretty sure some of the riders here are also members at the Two Wheeled Texans (http://twtex.com/) forum that I run. It is not a bike specific forum, just Texas specific.

If anyone is looking for some good roads to ride, feel free to contact me at: Tourmeister@twtex.com I am very familiar with many great roads all over the state. I also do quite a few maintenance days throughout the year for all kinds of bikes. This is where folks show up at my place and we spend the weekend working on everyone's bikes, and generally just having a fun time. We do several weekly bike nights in the Houston area as well.

Just thought I would pop in and say hi since I was already checking out the classifieds section

Adios,
Scott Friday

Howdy, I live in Southwest Louisiana and would like to organize an East TX ride/get together. I was thinking of the lakes region with a meet in Jasper/Woodville area. Does anyone know of some good roads/routes in this area in addition to FM 1414? SWLAStrom

I haven't learned a lot of great roads yet, but I'd be interested in joining any/all of you who'd be going.

I haven't looked at a map yet, but where is "the lakes region"?

Anybody up for a "bluebonnet" ride the end of April? Lots of great roads in central - Hill country region!

Almost had some great pictures from last year. Took a curve a little too hard for my wife. All we got was a video of the side of the road, and a lot of screaming at me not to do that again!

I live in Temple, and ride between Temple and Austin on a nearly daily basis. VERY happy to see 4 other 'Stroms on a regular basis.

Hello to all you Texas riders!

I'm in Georgetown (just north of Austin). I'm new to this area, so a bluebonnet ride next month sounds fun. I need to see more of the hill country anyway. Need to find some land to play dirt bikes on.

Yes for the ride.
