Hi Everyone,
Does anyone have any ideas for kicking off our 2007 riding season?
It's been quite a while since I posted my last map. I'm going through withdrawls.
Are you Northerners still stuck in snow up there?

Glad you're back on two wheels Jack! Take it easy.
I'll be riding Saturday as long as there's no ice or snow on the pavement. We got about 5" of wet snow on my road last night. This should be fun.:D If anyone will be in the area, let me know!
Bruce, How about Western PA and West Virginia? There are some links on our forum for the best rides in W. VA, I'll see if I can find them.:D

I see this as my tune-up ride for the season. Not too long, easy riding and have a little fun.

Hey Jack, I just checked the weather forecast and there's a 60% chance of snow tonight and a 40% chance of snow here tomorrow. My wife made plans for tomorrow which means I have to be around to take care of the animals.
How about next weekend for Tech Day?

this morning I took the Big Rig down off the pit stand & headed to South Ryegate Vt. I had some DVD's signed out of the Jackpiner57 Movie vault
( Long way Round & One Mans Island ) I left home and headed East on US Rt.4 ,I was Ok then Ihit a snow squall going up towards Pico Ski resort. not too bad but I was tensing up and that started My left wrist to throb.. Having only been cleared for "Some Riding" I opted to turn back @ the trailhead for the Long Trail ...I am however going to go to the School and practice slow speed maneuvers later 2day :-D

Glad to hear you're taking it easy when you need to! We want you well, so you can show us all over NE!
I just came back from a Monster Truck and MC stunt show. Those guys on sports bikes riding around on one wheel while climbing around on the bike frame at low speeds. It's pretty nuts, but amazing to watch. They also did a tiny flattrack race in a circle smaller than a hockey rink. Not much of a race but interesting to watch the traction and leaning capabilities of super moto bikes. My son like the event, but it was really loud, even with foam ear plugs.
It really seems like to nice a day to be hanging around and not riding. It's 52F in Dover at 5:15pm. I'm really glad to see most of my snow from Thursday has melted. Now we just have to get over this Sunday/Monday thing and start a little of the global warming. Or at least Rob's riding area warming!

I like the idea of heading down South, since it should be warmer (slightly).
I just went to White Horse Press on Friday and bought a bunch of new books and items from their discount area. They have a Free BBQ on 5/19. I believe I'm going to try to get to that, if I can. It's a nice area to ride, and they have a lot of great stuff.
I think in one of the books I bought they have some western mass rides. I can look them over if there is interest.

Rob, I hear you!! How far off can a weatherman be & still keep a job??:???:
I did how ever take an Hour this afternoon to go to the grade school & practice slow speed maneuvering & Emergency and evasive drills .
I didn't drop it once ( Insert applause here) I did however lock the rear 2 times in sand to my dismay .
But all in all I feel quite comfortable with how the wrist is healing..

Sounds like a good time ... I've wanted to go there since we saw the booth @ BMW Rally last June....

I know some folks riding to Indiana from NH/MA next Thursday and Friday. I'm actually thinking about joining them. http://www.yearroundriders.com There might be one other strom there besides mine. It looks to be a harley, 2 bmws, a connie, and maybe my vstrom from New Engand. I don't really want to go to Indiana but it's a ride.

I agree that Indiana isn't on my to-visit list either, but what does the trip look like? I went the the URL above and it's interesting but I didn't stumble upon the trip.
I'm a little curious, is it just Thursday-Friday or Thursday-Sunday?
At this time I think a trip to VT to watch valve adjustments might win. It's a reasonable day trip without extra costs. And I still have a some items I wish to outfit my wife with before this season. I really wish to take a weekend trip that can test out some new gear, mostly stuff for my wife. I would also like to get my new Strom owning friends out on a reasonable starter trip. I think they'll learn a lot about what they need by taking a few short trips.

It's a Friday night and Saturday night get together. My guess is that there'll be 40-50 people there from within 800 miles of Indiana. The group is the "rounders" which started as an offshoot of the BMWMOA group for people who ride year round. There is a good percentage of BMW riders in the group, but it's definitely not a marque-based assembly. I did a ride2eat with a half dozen of them a couple of weeks ago. It was to Parker's Maple Barn somewhere near Brookline, NH.
There's one guy in Korea who has a DL-650 and he posts some pretty neat ride reports, and the guys from Alaska are right up there too.
Next weekend is supposed to have reasonable weather. If I don't go to Indiana, it'll prolly be Vermont.

May 4-6, Friday night to Sunday... Catskill Mountains. I'm planning it, reply there...

Hey guys, it just so happens that I have vacation time in May and I would love to go on a trip to PA or W. Va. What dates did you have in mind? I took a look at the map and it would be a long slab ride there or a more reasonable two days there, one day in W. Va. and two days back through Pa and the Catskills if Mother Nature approves. Absent W. Va., I would like to see the Frank Lloyd Wright homes in PA (Falling water and Kentuck Knob). This looks to be the makings of a great trip!
