View Full Version : Hello NE Troopers
Everyone getting ready for a great riding season in the tri-state area!?
Any of you hit Marcus Dairy on Sundays?
Not SuperSunday, regular Sundays. A lot of my rides start form there. Also hoping to explore more of central & eastern CT, as well as MA, VT, NH & upper NY.
Maybe see some of you on the road soon.

Hey Red, how come the blue bike? :-D
About 2,000 miles under my wheels already this year. What's to get ready for? We've been almost snow-free in southern New England.
I gotta admit the "tri-state" thing always confuses me. There are several parts of the country using that term.
Where is Marcus Dairy?
Blue because when you buy used your limited on color choice.
2,000 miles all ready, I'm jealous.
Hell, I'll "tri" any state.
Marcus Dairy is in Danbury, CT.: http://www.places2ride.com/rides/show_ride.asp?z=113

Welcome aboard. Keep your eyes peeled here for group rides, they ought to be springing up soon.
Rode to work this morning at 32 deg after borrowing a friends widder electric vest. It's as close as I can imagine to what living in a toaster must feel like. I only turned it up to 4, and was nice and warm. I need to get better gloves though, my hands stayed warm from heated grips, but my fingertips went numb in about 15 miles...
Hope to see you on the road Red.

Hey Red, Welcome to the forum! As everyone has said, we do quite a few rides each year. Some are one day rides and others are moto-camping adventures. Hope you can make some of the rides. - Tom

Welcome Red,
Another local rider here in Rocky Hill, CT
I was checking out possible day rides (from Marcus Dairy) that might me interesting. I came across the Bear Mountain area in NY and it looks like it could be fun trip. From their, maybe even head South into Bald Mountain New Jersey area.
Have you ever ridden around the Bear Mountain and/or Bald Mountain area?
What's it like going to Marcus Dairy?

I think I'm looking at about 1000 miles so far this year. It's tough to squeeze it in between all these darn snowstorms!
Can't it be spring now...
Those ride locations look far away, even for me in the Seacoast NH area. The sound like they would be fun though. I keep thinking our first trip of the year should be South, just because it SHOULD be warmer.

Sounds reasonable to me. Even 5 or 6 degrees can definitely make a difference in the comfort level of the ride.
Who is going to belly-up to the bar and toss out some ideas.

This can get your season off to a good start...50+ riders attended in 05' (06' was a major rain out)...

Sounds like it could be fun (snow permitting). Problem is I've been hogging all the weekends recently, and it's my wife's turn to escape and leave me watching the kid. By late in the summer I might be able to drag him along on something like this, but we will be working toward that if it ever gets warmer.
Too bad, because if you're going we could have ridden down together!
The bad news is that I'm booked for next weekend too. But I'm suspecting I'll see at least one other Strom the following weekend 5/4-5 at http://www.near-fest.com. If anybody else is going we should park a fleet of Stroms down in the camping area. It'll help keep my tent from getting run over.

Sunny days are usually worth close to 10 degrees warmer than indicated.

Well I'll catch you some other time. Living in the same town with the same type of bike for so long and not running into each other is a bit strange.

That does indeed look like fun.
For my riding style -- "Turtle"--following a bunch of sport bikes would be a solo ride for me and my Wee.
It would be a blast to have a similar Strom event.

It's not really that type of ride. There are three distinct groups. The lead group are the ones clearing out all the speed traps for the rest of us. The middle group (let's say 10 mph over the limit-ish) is the vast majority of bikes with a fair "bring up the rear" contingent. Most of the bikes are sport touring types (as in with luggage bolted on, ST1300, FJR1300, Ducati ST2/4...) ridden by 35-50ish old bastards like myself so there generally are no squids in attendance.

Man Oh Man. Yesterday, the weather report for Saturday was for 58 degrees and sunny. Now it shows 51 degrees and possible rain.
Weather permitting, I am tempted to give this ride a shot, starting in Windsor, CT.
Any other Stromtroopers interested?
