It's sort of a holly war. Everybody likes something, almost nobody likes the stock setup. Most people think they can live with the stock setup for awhile, and they eventually seem to replace it with some other solution that doesn't abuse the top of their head at highway speeds. I think we can almost live with it because nobody really likes to drive on the highway if they can avoid it. It appears to me to only be a problem at high speeds.

From that I can tell all the other solutions do work. I've seen laminar lips, a couple of large screens, and the mad-stad adjustable bracket I use. They all seem to get rid of the buffeting. I don't like looking through things, so the mad-stad seemed to make the most sense to me. I have tool-less adjustments that I can pull over and change multiple times in a day if I want to. I find only a few settings work well for me, and some work better when my wife is on the pillion (she is about my height so she's taller on the higher pillion). I'm about 5' 9" and the stock screen hit me about 2" below the top of my helmet. Since I bought my Strom in August I haven't used it in a lot of heat yet. Perhaps I'll be really happy when I can shrink it down so that I get full airflow in high temps?

The nice thing about the mad-stad is I can tune it by moving my hand around and finding where the wind is. Then adjust until I'm happy with the airflow. My guess is that I could futz with it forever and not get it perfect. I'm willing to bet one of the fixed shields would do a better job for a person the target height. That is for any given height I'm sure there is an optimal setup. I'm happy enough with my adjustments, but I'm 5'9". I would find another stromtrooper with your dimensions and see what they like. I'm not using my brackets in the highest positions possible, so it may work for you too. I guess I'm a sucker for options, so I went the mad-stad route.

From what I have read you can't really go wrong. So if you're cheap find the cheapest solution. If you like adjustments then the mad-stad is about it. If you want a large screen there is a least one. If you just want the buffeting to go away there are a couple of screen options, some move more air around you too, but mostly they are just different shapes. Some people rule out some options just on looks. Use any means you want, I don't think I've ever heard of anybody unhappy with any of the solutions available, so you can't make a bad choice.:D

thanks after reading your post & then going to the web site I think I'm sold .I dont like the thought of looking through a wind shield & being able to move it down when its hot is a big plus & astetecly the stock shield looks right on the bike ..
And lets be real its a bike not a car if I wanted no wind I'd drive the truck
