Big B & I are planning a tech day some Saturday soon at his place in Westerville, to get together, do some work on your bike with lots of help from the gathered crew, grill out, etc.

If you'd like to attend, post here, I'll keep track of those who are interested and let you know when & where.

The Dallas area chapter of Two Wheeled Texans have had a couple of Strom specific (with a few exceptions) tech days so far this year. Very fun and educational. The focus of the January day was installing about 8 sets of heated grips (came in very handy that day) and some fuse boxes. February was more of a welding, replacing chains, brakes day. And of course, you have to break out the grill. Lots of observing and learning going on.

Cool, hopefully this will pick up some steam. I'm sure there's plenty of choice routes to C-bus from up here aside from 71S :D

I hope so. I'd be up for the trip as long as you kept me off 71. I hate riding on the interstates.

I'll be there - what kinda ride you guys planning after "fixing" the bikes?

Boy......guess I better get to planning! My home is welcome to all that want to come.....and you bet your butt we will go for a ride. So.....what kind of "fixes", tune ups, or general Strom talk do you guys want to cover? These bikes are so good, I'm sure we won't be spending much time tuning.

It's a shame we can't find a yosh box. I would like to tinker with a few settings. Other then that, All I need to do is run a outlet up front and a good ground wire. I would at some point like to get a gps and be able to power it. :-D

I would really like to see a throttle body synch. I can also get some red paint to fix any non-red stroms.

I need to know how to get the tank off, to change the airfilter and to generally mess with stuff I can't reach right now, and to take off the charcole filter, wherever 'th hell THAT is...
I can help out with wiring of any kind...

We will git er done!;) I can buy some vac tubing/connectors for anyone that wants extensions put on, and then we will SYNC.

Mike...pretty sure you don't have a charcoal canister "California model".
I am getting ready to order a Powerlet kit, I may wait until we all hook up to install it.

Sounds good.....I also have a can of spray on MUDD, that we can give your bike a proper coating.

+1 on the throttle body synch. I am convinced that my bike needs it...but I am always imagining that there is something not quite right with my bikes.

Well now we're getting somewhere!

I suppose I could check my sync again, it was so off the first time it might still not be perfect. I'll need to install a 43t rear sprocket and a speedo healer.

How soon do you guys want to do this? Of course, there's like 5 inches of snow on the ground at my house right now...

I will be in Plain City that weekend at a Scooter meet. If we do it then, Sunday would be better. I can come right from the meet sunday morning.

Edit: I think MZ works on Sundays, If saturday thats ok, I just skip out of the meet for a while.

B,

Right now it looks like I can make it either day but I will need to double check with the social secretary . If I can figure out how to transport it I'll even bring my homemade manometer (it's a real piece of mechanical wizardry!). We could balance twice as many TB's that way.

NOOOOOO! wouldn't you know it--

i have a hockey tournament in canada may 4, 5 and 6.
i just picked up a used Vee '03 and need to do a TBS and perhaps some other things to it. i'd love to have someone experienced to help me and i'd pay dearly for someone to pick up those connectors and hoses, etc.

oh well.... maybe i can hook up with someone knowledgeable at a later date. i've only had her for 2 weeks now and have 460 miles done. i suppose any reason to ride is a good reason. or i'll make another tech day.

handyhiker

FireDog, If you don't figure out a way to transport the meter, I would not sweat it. No longer then it takes to do one, we can do 20 or more an hour. Heck, by the time the burgers are on the grill to done cooking, we should be able to have them all done!!;)

Bobby, Anytime you want to come to Akron, I will hook you up. I did this for MZ. No big deal. Let me know when your coming, I'll have the stuff and a cold beer waiting. (or hot coffee). Ride safe

alright! i suppose, with this offer, it doesn't matter when the tech-day is... but i still would have liked to meet you lot and do some bench racing.

hopefully it'll be sooner than later. akron is only about 281 (3 hours by mapquest) miles from my house, of course, that'd be on I-80... i'm sure there is a better way to get there than the slab. maybe not. anyway...

in the last hour i've just left the mapquest window open. first moonshine, Ill, then westerville, oh. now akron, ohio.

i'll be down in ohio for sure one of these days! my bike runs lousy at times, low rpm it surges and gurgles, has HORRIBLE chudder between 3200-3800 rpm, and had some of the most horribly cupped and worn out deathwings on it until today, when, at 29 degrees, i rode it to the local dealership to get my new Anakees fitted. it warmed a bit coming back, 31 degrees.

This is a great idea and I am definitely interested. The opportunity to learn more about this beast is always good. My bike is bone stock outside an OEM center stand I installed,
Maybe I can hook up with other Ohio NE riders for the ride down.

Definitely, the more the merrier. Where is Sagamore Hills? I'm in Brunswick, Rt 303 and 71, and HandyHiker is in Akron. We'll have to decide on a nice common ground to meet.

We could try at Rt 71 & 18 in medina. There is a Bob Evens Mickie D's Wendys or at the motorcycle dealer there or several gas stations. I guess we have to go down 71south anyway.

i can do either the april date or the may 14th date. or, if it works out better for you fellow, you just go ahead without regard for Bobby and i'll work my way to Akron some other day. wasterville or akron, both about the same distance.

That works great for me!

Do we want to superslab it or take some country roads? Slab's always faster, but I'm down for whatever. How early we thinking about kicking things off?

I can't make it the 21st unless I get vacation (I do have somebody who owes me a Saturday though...) but May 14th is open. I'll get back about the Saturday after I call in my trade.

May 14th is a monday, do we want to do this after work or on a weekend? April 21st is good for me! Weekdays are tough to predict, I am on call most of the time.

MZ, We could do Rt. 42 south then just drop south depending on where the B lives. I have taken that to Plain City and it is a decent ride. Then depending on time, if need be we could slab it home.

As far as time, I'm open. If we head down earlyish, we would have time to do whatever to the bikes, eat a bite, then do a group ride, and head back before it gets too late.

Sorry guys....I didn't mean to say May 14th, what was I thinking? As far as I can tell, the best date seems to be what Mike "Fourvalve" originally mentioned, and that was the first Sat of May "5th". How does this sound????

Sorry Bobby, I know that you cant make this date, but I am trying to do this in everyones best interest. Some of us work rotating weekends or are on call, and heck.........your from wolverine country!!!!! Just jerking your chain, I would love to include you too.;) I will post a thread with a survey, and give some dates. Maybe we can come up with a consensus as to what is best for all.

I would love to join in also. Any Saturday in May will work, June is out with military reserve duty. The two major mods that I have done is to install an air horn and power distribution block. I'm a tightwad so both we done on the cheap and work well. The horn was about $13 and the block was a about $10 or maybe $12, heck I forget.
