It was nice Tuesday - I got a nice half hour ride in after work, knowing I wouldn't get back on for another week.

lincoln park (south of Detroit almost on the water).

i rode to ann arbor today to have a new pair of Anakees installed.

yep... 30 degrees when i left and 31 when i returned.

i got a bit cold at times, but i bundled up and it wasn't bad. the cold was better than the traffic on I-94 coming home, i'll say that.

I'm in Clinton Township.. can't wait for this snowy weather to be gone! I used to ride to work in this 30-40's weather, but the 30 minutes of time for putting on the gear and then taking it off got to be too much time. Can't wait for it to warm up!

1strominator2, it was neat meeting you while you were picking up your bike. For others on this site I was going to my local dealer ship Honda East in Maumee Ohio which is near the Michigan Ohio border, near lake Erie. Out walks this guy I have never met before talking about his new wee. We started talking about this site and found out we are both new to it.
Pretty cool!
Hope to get in some rides with some of you SE Michiganganers.

STAND CORRECTED THE DATE IS JUNE 17TH NOT THE 10TH = Anyone interested in doing a group ride to this event? There is a classic car show going on in the same area (same day/place).

Have four riders goin so far from different parts of metropolitian Detroit!

Meeting place has not been set yet but it looks like Northville/Novi right now early Sunday morning (7-9am) - a good two hour ride.

Leighton Township here. About 15 miles South of G.R. Bought my DL about a month ago from a guy in Ohio. Had the most fun ride of my motorcycling career down there in SE Ohio last week or so. Wish Michigan had roads like that.

Me and a buddy from work (who also just bought an 04 1K) are planning on riding around Lake Superior this summer. Sometime mid/late July. Not sure if we'll ride together or not, but I'm 99.9% sure I'll be going.

Hello Sandy & I just returned from Inuvick at the end of the Dempster Hwy. The road is every bit as hard to ride as I was told 500 miles of dirt, sand, and pea gravel, it is hard to drive in a 4 wheeler even harder on two wheels but try it on a 650 motorcycle riding two up, it is a challenge. But I am here to say the V Strom took that challange and got up there with out a spill and in 12 hours. The trip took us all over Cananda, the Western US. up to a high of 9000 ft and back to Gladwin in 23 days we sleep a tent all except 3 nights. If you have any questions about the 650 being able to carry a load I weigh in at about 230# Sandy is a lot lighter the dry bag was 35# tank bag about 10# plus tank saddle bags about 20# we road 9,397 mi. If anyone trys the Dempster be in shape and do a lot of off road riding first. I am 64 and have been riding on the road and off road for 50 years, and am out of shape for this kind or riding but some how we made it. As soon as I get all the pictures done I will try and get them on his site. Paul.

Ha ha! My driveway is 430 feet long! I like my Wee too much to do that! I need about a week of 40*+ and she's on the road! There's a foot of yick to get rid of on the driveway.
I bought my bike in Baldwin, worst experience I've ever had buying anything. I will never go back there. I will go to Baldwin regularly for ice cream!!

Carpe Diem,

Well I dont know how many of yas live near the west side (Muskegon) but May 3rd is the annual Spring Run put on by the Muskegon Motorcycle Club. They gather at the Mt Garfield Clubgrounds in the morning and about 1000 bikes go for a 3 hour(ish) ride north. The police block off all the side roads so we have the roads to ourself on the way out of town. Its pretty fun. Kinda like a parade. People line the streets and overpass's to watch everyone go by. Its cool if youve never done it before.

Ill be there this year. It dosn't cost anything to ride. Im pretty sure I was the only Vstrom there last year amongst a sea of Harleys and other assorted bikes. At 1st glance it looks to be a Harley event but there are plenty of other bikes there as well. All are welcome.

I've ridden my bike at least once per month, every month since I bought it. 21 months straight so far. Granted, it gets hard to do in the winter, but there are occasional nice days, and the cold doesn't bother me too much.

Hello All,

I'm new to Stroming, but I've had bikes most all my life. The last 30 years I had some kind of a Harley, and also had an old Honda XR that I used for back and off road exploring. Sold the Harley and the XR and bought this 6fitty about two weeks ago. So far so good, but I did notice not as many Harley guys wave at me anymore, and who cares? Been ordering stuff and installing it as it arrives, some of this stuff cost more than Harley stuff. Oh ya, I'm about 10 miles north of Lapeer just east of m-24. Turned 56 on the last birthday, but I can still throw a leg over the seat.

i was on my blue 04 and the other rider was on a black 08 strom.

road/talked (probably not the safest thing to be doing while in stop and go..hehe) but didn't exchange any info.

Of coruse was one of the few Vstrom's we had ever seen and was just coinsodence that we ended up next to eachother for a couple miles.

In anycase wondering if they were on the list.

I've had both an 03 and 04 dl1000 but since early 04 I've dropped of the list. Wondering where the old vstrom2 list went on yahoo.

Greetings,

I am a brand new rider living in Gladwin and working in Midland, hence the excuse to get a bike (to save $ on gas, hehe). I took the Basic Rider (Rider's Edge) course at Shiawasee Harley and resisted the urge to buy a lifestyle and started looking for a bike I could really enjoy. I ended up with a red 06 from a fellow stromtrooper that was extremely well maintained! (thanks Bob).

Anyway I am getting used to my new ride and I am hoping to get a camping trip in yet this summer with my brother (05 Ducati Multistrada) in the UP. My Wee is an incredible ride for my first bike! I couldn't be happier.

Love this forum!

See ya on the road,

we found a great camping site there in the UP. we went straight across the bridge and about an hour past it to Sault St. Marie. there we watched a 1004foot long freighter (106 feet wide) go through the locks. fascinating.

then, about another 45 mins further west along the coast we found Bay View campground in the Hiawatha nat'l forest. cost us 14 for a great site on the banks of superior. all we could hear was wind blowing and waves crashing all night. nice sandy beach as well. it was rustic, with a pit hopper and a pump well, but beautiful and a nice fire ring.

I was looking to buy a wee from the Baldwin dealer, what are your gripes? TC dealer doesn't have any V-Stroms.

I got mine there but I will never never go back! I called and asked if they had one, told them I'd walk in two days later to buy it. No demo ride nothing, no salesmanship for them. I arrived and was treated like a nuisance. No one was pleasant except the setup tech. The only salesman that said anything to me was more concerned with chatting up my wife than helping me select helmets etc. They locked the door as I went out and everyone left with me in the parking lot discovering my new bike alone. I sent the owner an email (it's on the Peacock LTD websitel expressing my displeasure with the poor treatment and I got a quick email back from the guy I initially talked to on the phone. All it said was "sorry we didn't make a good first impression, if we can ever help you give us a call" I hope that's not the norm in the bike sales industry. I've worked at many car dealerships and it's exactly OPPOSITE of that at a car shop when you buy a new vehicle.
I'd take a look at Babbitts in Muskegon if I were you. Somebody up by you must have one.
PM me if you want more intel.or some options. I'll be up there this fall as my former principal is in Elk Rapids and I need to go up and visit their Alt. Ed. program.

Also if I wait, I could probably get one local at Great Escapes. I haven't had a bike since the 70's...wife says I'm having midlife crisis. I'll check Babbitts Website.

I got my 08' Wee two weeks ago at Daves Suzuki in Cadillac VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE...best price I could find too, (by almost $700 less than Peacock! the guy at Peacock did not seem interested in dealing either, He said these things are hard to find, and this is the price)
Dave's just took a red 06' in on trade ,with only 600 miles on it, last week.

Got my Wee about a month ago. Couldn't be happier. I am heading out to Maine this Thursday. I think I will be a little more comfortable than the old days on a sport bike.

Looking to setup a ride of Michigan/Ohio V-Stromers in July if possible - respond if you're interested.

Date/destination/time to follow.

I'm down in the SW corner of the state, near Benton Harbor/St. Joseph. It looks like the closest fellow V-Strommers are in Muskegon or GR. Now that spring is finally here, maybe we can get a group together for a ride sometime!

Boyne City in northern Michigan. Riding is great up here and I don't think I have been south of West Branch on my bike yet. Only about an hour from the UP and an hour and a half from Canada. Life's good Up North. :)

I am picking up me new bike at Extreme Power Sports in Gaylord today. Great buying experience so far and they have been very patient.
