I live in Edmonton, Alberta. My sister lives in Inuvik, North West Territories. (She took any job just to get out of Saudi Arabia, what can I say) I am planning a trip up there next summer (2005, probably late June). I will take the Stewart-Cassiar highway through northern British Columbia, the Alaska Highway to Dawson, and the Dempster Highway to Inuvik. The Dempster is 400+ miles of gravel, either in good shape or not, depending on the weather apparently. I've had friends travel it with no problems at all, and others who had 5 flats in the first 100 km out of Inuvik. I have no friends who have done it on bikes.
The reason for this post is to find out if any one else would be interested in this trip.
I figure to spend a few days there, take a flight up to Tuktoyuktuk to see the Arctic Ocean, and return probably via the Alaska ferry system.
Anyone interested?
