I have a Garmin GPSV and brackets from my VFR that I want to transfer over to the Strom. Anyone have any pics or part #s from your GPS setup? TIA, John

Howboucha Meatsac!
Good to see you over here. I too have a Garmin GPS V and posted and evaluation about it and the install on this site. Go here http://www.stromtrooper.com/pegarmingpsV.htm to read about what I did.

I am using a Magellan Meridian Gold with a RAM/Bracket mount to my left mirror post. Works slick.
Pics...I'll have to remember to upload one to my webspace and post it later on.

I had a Garmin GPSIII plus lying around and got inspired to mount this thing on the Strom. I just got the bike which has a lower handlebar but still has the crossbar. The guy I bought the bike from threw in some electric gloves with all the wiring which I took, but I already have some Gerbing gloves. So I spliced the power outlet, which has an on/off switch, for the gloves to my GPS. So that got me power. Digging around in my old m/c parts drawer I found a general mount that I had gotten that fits in the hole in the steering stem of a Hayabusa and had a swiveling platform on top. It also fits perfect on the Strom. I screwed a plastic clip mount for the GPS onto the platform. So the GPS clips into the plastic mount and ends up just in front of the crossbar. I used a black zip tie to secure the GPS to the crossbar. Its a very clean mount. I'll see how it holds up to riding but it also seems very solid. I had been using a small Garmin Gecko 201 on my RC51 for speedo calibration and track days but it runs on batteries only so I dusted off my forgotten GPSIII and now am happy to have it on the Strom.

Fortunately Garmin III and V units have a custom-fit RAM cradle available.
RAM part number is HGA2. Then you'll need the B238U diamond base ball mount to screw to the back of the cradle. Now you've got your Garmin securely held with the RAM one-inch ball on the back.
Next choose a base mount style. The basic u-bolt mount fits on the Strom handlebar perfectly (RAM B231ZU) or you can use the B252U flat mount under either mirror stem. (That's how I have mine set up.)
Finally choose a 1.75 inch, 3.5 inch, or 5.25 inch double-socket arm to connec the base mount one inch ball to the ball on your cradle. This system is very slick, incredibly strong and vibration dampening. Vibration dampening is a vital aspect of mounting delicate gadgetry that is often overlooked.
I have a few RAM mounts on my Strom for mounting a digital camera among other stuff. Works great.
RAM up! And go for a ride!
