well, you guys can meet at holiday if you want to. i'd rather not ride up that way unless we would be continuing north. kind of a waste of time and fuel.

awesome ride folks. met newhere and sd2ftl ay Dade corners at around 9:30. also hooked up with a new Glee rider who is not a trooper, but tagged along for a while.

rode down krome avenue through the redlands area, for those of you not from here, it's the historical and still active agricultural area of Dade County. stopped at Robert is Here to buy some fruit and hot sauce. then headed down into everglades park to go check out a Nike Missile site from the cold war. much to our chagrin, after blowing $5 each to enter the park, we discovered the the missile site is closed until December. wouldda been nice for the knucklehead at the park entrance to let us know, seeing as how i asked her to confirm directions.

we then headed further south down US 1 to Card Sound Road for lunch at alabama jack's. neat semi-biker joint with horrible food and so-so cold beer.

after lunch newhere and i headed to key largo down card sound road while sd2ftl headed home to do chores. a quick u-turn in key largo to shoot up US 1 to the turnpike for a blast back home.

the weather was about as perfect as it could've been. was nice to meet up and talk stroms, bikes, women, etc etc with some like-minded folks.

our plan is to ride north to central florida for the next ride. so those of you in this area or even from the gulf coast, feel free to join!

I'm up for whatever, will try to drag Mrs. NewHere along against all odds. Also planning on taking the Raptor into the mud either Saturday or Sunday if you are interested.

You mentioned central FL. Any good roads that way?

was thinking of saturday. after looking at central florida, it seems i would have to ride 150 miles just to get to decent roads. maybe not good for a day trip.

how about we do a west coast/marco island jaunt through the glades on some back roads then come back on tamiami?

Fear and Loathing On The Loop Road

I have struggled along this messy cowpath, and I enjoyed reaching
the smooth pavement at the end of it. Actually, it is not all that bad,
just not my cup of tea. Gung-ho dirt riders will find it tame, but it
tired my old arms and left my windshield a tad scratched (fixed now)
from impacts with roadside branches when I picked the smallest
holes and ruts and they were near the edge of the ... um ... road.

As you can see, this lies between Marco Island and your home bases.
I hope you enjoy whatever ride you choose. It is unlikely that you can
lure me to ask to join you, but it is not totally out of the question.

I opened up Saturday so I'm good to go. Marco Island sounds interesting as I haven't been there yet.
