I cannot for the life of me figure out why you would make the keys for your hardbags so thick at the hand hold. They are not computer chip keys so there is no why they can't be just flat metal keys. I prefer a nice small key ring when I ride and with the ignition, top case, and side case keys on a medium sized ring, you can barely get the thing in your pocket! I went to every key cutting place in my small town and no one carries a blank so I can have a standard metal key made. I ended up grinding the plastic down a bit to make them fit together better but they should not have been that way to begin with.

Well since we're in bitch mode here, why can you not get side cases + a top case keyed the same!

I guess I got lucky. The lock set Suzuki sent had 3 locks keyed alike. If I ever get an oem trunk I have a lock to match my side cases. But, only sent 2 keys.

I just purchased a 2012 vstrom adventure and the locks on the hard cases need alittle attention. on a 100 mile ride today i lost a lock somewhere along the way. If i put in the spare I only will have one left. I noticed on the forums that others have had the same problem. Someone needs to look into why this is happening.
Respectfully, Doug |

big issues on the adventure cases locks. They are very difficult to use and many users have lost the locks. I will be requesting the dealer to replace these with the 1000km check and hopefully Suzuki has a better product available.

![]() Now the Locksmith has put out a search for 'blanks' that can be ground to same shape as the original key, so I'll eventually have a spare key. (Later posting) Scroll down to #10 for update. Last edited by Montana73; 04-22-2012 at 12:05 AM. Reason: To help referencing for others |

The lock issue on the Trax boxes comes from what appears to be an incorrect c clip that holds the cylinder to the housing. I also lost two locks and finally removed them all, replaced the c clips and then used a dab of rtv over them so they wont come apart again. The 2 spare locks are provided so that you can fit them in a Trax top box so of course when I ordered my top box I had to order another set of 6 locks so they would all be keyed alike. The locks have the same issues and they only come with two keys.

SILCA Italy, GT 15 RAP I had two spares made, and each opens all three luggage compartments flawlessly. If any OPs have a problem getting this blank from their local source/s, let me know and I'll send the locksmith's contact #s. I hope this is OK in Posting. |
