Default Low RPM sputtering real drag!

Well I got one thats NOT right! Almost always sputters at 2600 rpm. Getting no where with the dealer. Why do I need to put a Power Commander on a new bike and void my warrenty just to get it to run right! Was told it would fix it self with some more miles. Well 2500 miles later and still farts! Guees I just need to wait for the full year to go by and be told its not a warrenty issue anymore huh. THATS PRETTY SAD!

I have almost 2000 miles on my bike, and it was doing the same thing. I synched my throttle bodies and adjusted my throttle cables to no avail. So..... finally I got over to the dealer Friday and they reprogrammed my FI with a yosh box. Increased +5 at bottom rev range and +5 at mid range. The service rep said that he also enrichened my low speed idle as well. The bike now runs AWESOME!!!! I can run in any gear at any RPM and she just pulls smooth and hard. No hiccupps, weezing, surging or intake popping. IMHO, don't spend the money on a PCIII unless you feel like fouling up your plugs and tinkering with fuel maps. I know that the power commander is an awesome product, but if you are running with the stock airfilter and the stock pipes, SAVE YOUR MONEY!! MY dealer charged me $36 out the door, it was one of the cheapest mods ever done that the results felt like I paid alot. By the way... my dealer said that a PCIII WILL NOT void your warranty!

BBurton, Shouldn't that have been covered under warranty?

Alaska Troy, you should really put what bike you ride in your profile. Have them put in two new spark plug caps. I have read that they have been a problem on some bikes, causing symptoms like you describe.

Ask Powersports Columbus,Ohio 614-759-9300- Tell your dealer there they are so lost- FIND A NEW SHOP. Call them at ASK- really cool people- they will explain over the phone. Then have a real service dept do the work. Good luck- Karl

Hey - where'd Alaska Troy go? I want to know if he has a V or Whee. I have a Whee and it's jumpy at very low revs. After a year I continue to stobbornly try to do the slow, tight u-turn manuevers at close to idle speed but it kinda chug-chugs making it less than graceful. Any suggestions? I'm going to check with a dealer or even call the creator for tech help if possible.

You won't get smooth engine response below 3k rpm. Low speed maneuvers mean feathering the clutch, keeping the revs up and maybe adding a little rear brake drag. The power pulses of a 4-stroke 90 degree v-twin are too far apart and uneven to be smooth at very low revs.

Thank you Greywolf for freeing me from my obsession to develop infinitely minute control of my throttle hand. I do most of my slow turns as you suggested and it's easy enough. My obsession started in the MSF advanced rider course when, riding my nearly-new Whee, the instructor kept telling me I should be able to do the tight, slow figure 8 and U turn maneuvers without the clutch. Actually, it has worked out because I can nearly achieve a smooth putt putt in first somewhere between 2400 - 2700, but it ain't easy. It will now be a fun game. Thanks again!
