Is there a V-Strom Gathering planned for 2011? I've seen Spokane mentioned but wasn't sure if it was planned. We might also consider going to RMAR in New Mexico.

I was very pleased that we had a good showing of Stroms at RMAR in 2010. Those that attended, I believe, enjoyed some great riding.

Rocky Mountain Adventure Rally is an event that accommodates everyone's idea of adventure. If adventure is a 300 mile day, running twisties in the high mountain canyons.....then awesome. If adventure is one pressing and testing the limits of one's Strom and themselves across single and double track.....then awesome.

The point is.....RMAR will have great riding for everyone!

Come and enjoy.

Just a heads up to clear up any confusion..... This is an ADVRider Event (Adventure Rider Motorcycle Forum)..... but as all of you know, all StromTroopers are welcome if you will simply join ADVRider (free registration). You will also need to make sure you register with me, off the ADV Forum.

Thanks, John

Hey John,

You can count me in as far as I know. Are you going to bring the Strom this time or the Honda? After the last trip I'm thinking my XR might be more fun and a lot lighter.

Mike

John,

This is still on my long range plans after the Stromtrooper Rally in Boise. Keep the info coming. I'm still expecting to camp at the rally and looking forward to some good riding on the hard surface roads.

Is this rally primarily a off roading event? I just got my Vee a couple of months ago and am leery of riding it off road due to my lower back issues.
I live just outside of Roswell so this ride intrigues me.
Thanks
Greg

Greg,

I think John will tell you there are plenty of paved roads in the area for good riding. I'm the same as you -- I stay on paved surfaces as much as possible.

One thing so cool about Sipapu is the diversity of riding. Sipapu hosts several motorcycle rallies each year, everything from the Bavarian Mountain Weekend (mainly an event for BMW tarmac bikes) to the New Mexico Trials Event (do I need to explain???, crazy stuff!!!).

There are hundreds of miles of pavement twisties, as well as a lot of mild dirt riding.....or even challenging single track. Anyone bringing a dual-sport beast like a Wee or Vee will have more riding than they can do in 4-5 days. There will be a lot riders on bikes like: 1200GSA, Tiger, Stroms, etc... that will only ride on pavement and maybe mix in some 'maintained' dirt roads.

Ride groups will vary from advanced riders doing challenging stuff to groups that want to toodle on the pavement, enjoying the sites.

No one should feel like this event is over your head. Everyone is very helpful, caring and always full of advice.....

The only thing every StromTrooper needs to know is.....in order to attend, you need an ADV signon and handle. Get it here: CLICK HERE

Mostly, its about making new friends, outstanding food and drink, great stories, camaraderie...etc.

Mike, I plan to sell the NX650 this spring and purchase either a KTM 640/690 or a Honda XL650L. So certainly, I will bring the smaller dual-sport....but I have to trailer down (due to all the gear I have to haul to run off the event), so I will be bringing both bikes.

One day, I plan to ride a loop north on mild dirt to Red River, looping around Taos for lunch at Michael's Kitchen. I am going for 4 days, so probably 2 days on the WeeStrom and two days on the Dual-sport. That will let me do a lot of exploring, both pavement and dirt!!!!

Both my sons will be on their WeeStroms and will ride with me, so nothing I ride will be too rough and tough.

Remember this pic of us last year?????

Bring both your bikes!!!!! And if you are adventurous......use the DL1000 to pull the Honda!!!!!
