Just checking to see if any other Stromtroopers are heading to Sturgis for the rally.

FYI, they have not posted a no vacancy sign on the Black Hills State University dorm housing for the Sturgis Rally.
Although I have always camped at Sturgis be it with my Harley or Strom, no more roughing it. I got a bed for this year.

Sturgis 2015, the Strom at Bear Butte.

I go prairie dog shooting in that state and ND and that is a good drive from where I live. Florida would be a real trek. I have to hit the fly-in event at Oshkosh, WI this year but Sturgis sounds like a riot. Just to see the painted girls if nothing else.

I've routinely biked to Oshkosh then on to Sturgis.
This year I will probably fly to Oshkosh then return to Florida and bike to Sturgis.
I love retirement!!!

Sun N Fun is an every year occurrence. I am actually beginning to like it more than Oshkosh. I made it to Oshkosh 18 years straight before I missed one.
Do you ride the Strom to OSH? Fly in?
My Cherokee 180 has shared the hangar with my bikes for the last 27 years. Do you use a hangar for your bikes? Plane?
I'm meeting a riding friend (NYMetsFan)from Jersey in Iowa on the way to Sturgis.
I pass by your area on the way there. I'd be glad to stop and pick you up on the way to Sturgis.
Take care.

Hey thanks for the offer. We camp about every other weekend through the summer and last weekend was our only weekend home in June. Headed to Bennett Springs, MO trout fishing this morning with a brand new truck (F-350) and big RV. We leave on one trip that begins August 4th into the Ozarks.

I did the homebuilt airplane thing and since sold it after about 300 hours in it. I took my private check ride in a Cherokee Archer and practiced a lot in a Warrior and 172. I have about 750 hours but haven't flown that much the last couple of years.

I preferred the Pipers but my friend has a Cessna Cardinal (no struts) that I fly occasional with him. I have been working on him for Oshkosh but he is a surgeon and always on call it seems. I fly gliders a bit and have a few hours in an R22. My friend has his instructor ratings in the airplane and glider, and also has a helicopter license.

My original instructor (also a glider and helicopter pilot) - another friend is just retiring from American Airlines as a captain. He has a Champ I fly occasionally. So far I have not needed to own my own plane again. :) I have too many hobbies as it is in retirement. lol

If I ever got another plane it would be a STOL. Ever watch Long Props and Big Rocks? We did a lot of short grass strip hopping here to the local fly-ins.

Have you ever flown into St. Louis? (Downtown or Spirit)

Going up on Saturday with another Strom rider. Staying for the week at Kickstands, formerly Elkview campground. Blade, I know I'm going to The tinder Box and the cigar store in Deadwood. Golden Corral and god knows where else.
P. S. The American Legion in Piedmont also.

Been to Rally many times and a few times when it was not going on. All ways camp but not all ways in Sturgis .SpearFish,DeadWood,Lead just as well be same town when the bikes come in. So many good half day and day trips close. We were 11 days in 1990 but only 44 then and drank and party was still some what in my blood:grin2:.Every time back since has been less and really do not like the big stuff as much any more. Getting more like Daytona with haul in as much as ride in and so many posers.Just me and a few old ones that still ride and camp anymore to places when the big stuff not going on and cell service a no go. Shown before my first trip to Sturgis 1990 in the BadLands on way up.
