Switched power wire

Being a complete noob at electronics, but willing to try, I have a question for you guys out there.
Is the grey wire hot when the ignition is switched on?
If so, then I can connect a wire to this one and route it to my relay board right?
Appreciate any input and info or advice.
Sorry if this has been covered before, but its a big forum
Thx guys and ride safe 👍

Yes. It will be hot if the ignition is On or in P(ark).

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014+ DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012+ DL650s

Not presenting myself in the first place is a bit rude and not finding this particular section.... consider this my introduction.
My name's Gunther, I live in Belgium and am 49 years of age.
Previous bike was a Harley Streetbob I sold it and bought me a DL650A 2012 fox orange.
It's a fun and refreshing bike to ride.
Everything goes smooth and it handles like a bike should.
Have no regrets whatsoever towards the Harley cuz it's got a lot to do with hype and a feeling that's "unique" which isn't what I'm looking for in a bike.
Hope to find lots of info, advice and ideas to make the experience of riding a V as big as possible.

Find some time, sit down and read the threads of interest. Unfortuntely, this might lead to much money spent on upgrades and mods, needed or not
Great site with knowledeable folks willing to share their experiences and solutions to all things VStrom.

Whenever I hear "rude", I think of this scene from Lonesome Dove.

The relay board you want to hook up, is it the PC8 fuse board? If so, there are a lot better places, especially if you're gonna splice into a circuit, rather than split or jumper in.

No, it's not that board.
The one I recently installed (and works) is the pcb relay board from Cosmo Accessories, a company in Greece.
It allows you to install up to 4 aux applications (usb, other stuff) with each having a relay and a 7.5a fuse.
I now have this board and a metal shelf wih a 12v socket and a double usb port, that is switched when ign is turned on.
Good company, great product an da very nice owner.
