Default Autocom CB to GRMS? and Chatterbox?

My wife and I both have autocom Active plus units on our bikes. We use Cobra CB's. New riding friends have FRS/GRMS radios and we want to make our units compatable. Any ideas on best way to do this? Other riding friends of mine still have CB'S which are built in (Goldwings, Hardley's etc), so I want to be able to switch raios depending upon whom am riding with. Sent Emails to Autocom.UK and also Cobra, so far no response. Another friend is thinking o fa chatterbox unit any feedback? I have been very happy with Autocom howeve it looks like my unit may now be an orphane.

buy a frs/gmrs radio you may or may not need a different cord than the one you use for your CB,

I have a midland CB, when I want to use my FRS, (one I bought at Radio Shack for $40 several years ago) I unplug the adaptor cord from my CB and plug it into my FRS

You may not get a timely response from Autocom, they filed for banckrupcy back in the early part of December, its my understanding, they are still selling existing stock and that as soon as March they will be back up and running again with a new financier

A cable swap should be all that's required.

Their web site shows they are now part of the group that owns Starcom so I imagine that things are stable now.

..Tom

ps: It would be nice if all Bike riders use channnel 7 and perhaps "Privacy" 14 as 7 is a channel that both FRS and GMRS can use.

Is your Autocom any different from Motocom?

I'll gladly take the Autocom off your hands. . How much do you want for it.. JK'ing.

Seriously though, autocom is at the top of the food chain when it comes to motorcycle comms. As other have said, a cable swap or adapter is all you need.

Good luck.

Ken

Very similar in regards to what it's supposed to do. But from what I'm reading (I've been reading a couple months now on various comms systems)..
Autocom is a higher quality unit. However, it'll end up costing nearly triple if it's setup like the ST-1 in your link.

Wow! 3x more expensive? That is definitely out of my reach.
Thanks!

Much depends on the CB you're using. Fortunately, you've got the Cobras, which use a standard two-pin, 5-contact right-angle plug. Therefore, the easiest way to go is to use a Cobra FRS/GMRS that uses the same plug. That way, you won't even have to change cables.
