Default 2009 650's arriving

For anyone close to San Antonio looking for a Vstrom 650, got an email from Alamo Cycle Plex that they have 2009 model in. I bought my 08 about 3 months ago. Found one dealer that had one back then.

Default Bought a 2009 650 today

Yeah, can confirm that's the same here in Houston. Swung by Stubbs and they had just unboxed a new DL650 and I bought it. I'll take pics and stuff later, but I was a bit surprised (and happy) to find it was released this early.

Looks sharp. The wheels definitely improve the appearance of the bike.

Why are the 2009 DL650 so much heavier than the 2008 DL650?

479 lbs versus 427 lbs

The 2008 DL1000 are 458 lbs. Which means the 2009 DL650 are heavier than the 2008 DL1000.

They changed to reporting a wet weight rather than a dry weight in the 2009 specs. So 50 lbs of fuel/oil/coolant etc.

ok..thanks...Even the salesman was a bit confused

I see now...Curb Weight versus Dry Weight.

Any reason to get a 2009 over a 2008?

Wow, the polished wheels are a HUGE improvement. The thing looks almost....what's the word for it?....attractive! I'll be a-polishing at the next tire change.
