Its pretty typical to see excess of 100k miles around here, still running great with nothing nut regular maintenance.

Yeah, I can't wait to go riding together. I have a friend who runs a bike shop and took hers there. Basic 11,000 mile service. Besides oil changed, I don't know if the 04 has ever been serviced. Still on break in for the 12, keeping revs under 5000 so can't compare the two right now. Do know how much I liked riding the 04 home and riding it around.

After riding both bikes, I think that the 04 has the shock and forks set up a lot stiffer than the factory settings on the new 12 wee adventure. The 04 is a little tall for my wife, if I lower the settings will it sag down some when she sits on it?

Garage
The Science and Black Magic of Suspension Setup shows how to set the suspension preload. It's about not topping out or bottoming out while riding. A lighter rider will use a lower setting but that's no replacement for having the correct spring rate. The '04 must have had suspension work done. In stock condition, the Wee is set up less stiff than the Glee. The '04 may need different springs to do the job you want.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014+ DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012+ DL650s
