1. I've bent the main screw that holds the handlebar weight to the handlebar itself.
2. I've ordered an item from Partzilla which suppose to fit my handlebar.
3. Everything seems to be in order but the screw I was supplied with is a lot shorter than the one I currently have on my bike.
As a result the hand guard on the left side doesn't sit correctly.
Can anyone please help with that and direct me to the correct part ?
From where can I order the screw?
attached some photos
That screw can be straightened. Otherwise, you have a couple of choices. One is to go to what the newer bikes have and remove the spacers. That lets you use the shorter screw. The other is to get the screw from the Vee that comes with handguards standard. The part number is 09127-06023.
That Babbits reference and probably the one you already have is for the stock 650. You have handguards and the stock 650 doesn't so the screw is too short.
You can also go to a good hardware store and get a replacement. I have done that with my 09 wee and my old DR650. Did not have to wait for the dealer to order it.
I've straightened mine, too, on a DL 1000. However, we have a fastening store locally called Tacoma Screw Products that can order about anything you might need. I went there for tiny model airplane screws and heavy bolts for a Zip Line. You might find them on line. Bobby
WOW guys! Thanks a lot for all the comments and replies . It has been really helpful.
But I think I will go with Greywolf advice and use the link he sent to purchase a new bolt.
Hopefully that will do the trick.
Once again,
Thank you very much!
